Alarming development
« on: 13 October 2012, 06:46:43 PM »
Oh, yes, and now I have the "Service Theft Alarm" warning on (almost) every start.

Opinions -
1. Fit new batteries meself? (about £10 plus work)
2. Fit new batteries and capacitors? (Kits apparently available for £25, but probably less if I raid Maplin)
3. Get a refurb done by someone else?

if (3) who would anyone recommend?
Nobody likes a smartarse - until they need one.

Maybe not option (1). I went for that about 5 months ago, and although it did the job at first, I'm now back to square 1  :(

Sidmaster seems to have a good reputation and does a full refurb of the alarm box.

I don't know of any other repair that does the refurb.

I've had good results with several of Damones SID units and alarm units. I got him to do the SID in my own car too.

Pull the plug off and bridge the terminals at the plug so it thinks it is there.
