I've not heard of it since you sold it mate...but hopefully it's still thrumming around the lanes of Surrey  ;)

V4s tended to be used longitudinally in the 60s and were all about packaging a 4-pot into a small-ish engine bay.  They were also strong compared with an inline engine.  Now that most 4-cyl cars are FWD and use a transverse layout, the benefit is minimal, and the inherent balance and vibration problems of a V4 make them less attractive.

Just a reminder to our members, and to bring to the attention of non-members thinking of coming:

We do not charge any extra for traders or car-booters, all we ask is a reasonable contribution to the raffle (By reasonable, we mean for big traders the donation of a nice prize, or for you & me flogging stuff from the boot of our cars, it might be to buy a few quid's worth of tickets).

I know what a bunch of squirrels us Saab owners can be, hording spares away on the off-chance that one day you might actually need them. This is an ideal chance to get rid of some of those "handy" bits & pieces cluttering up your garage/kitchen/living room that you no longer need...

Also to clarify the pricing after a few queries - the fee for camping includes entry to the event. It would be hard to charge you extra once you're already in....!

And a quick plug for the membership offer we are running. If you join before or at the National, we will waive the one-time joining fee of £5, so you only pay for the subscription which is only £32 a year (if you pay by Direct Debit) or £36 a year if not. You will then pay the discounted entry/camping rates for members, so for a family of 4 that could save you up to £12...in addition to getting 6 copies a year of the Saab Driver mag, dealer and specialist discounts, discounted insurance and many other benefits.

Hope to see you in a few weeks

Al

[Feel free to say hello, most of you know me anyway and those that don't - just ask someone else!]

New Saab 9-5 (2010 on) / Re: Anyone got one?
« on: 01 July 2011, 09:39:51 AM »
My Dad has a 2010 2.0 TiD Vector SE auto + Hirsch upgrade, currently touring France and in his words "the best towcar I've ever had", which includes a few...

I really like it, it's nice to drive, goes well enough, is economical and very comfortable.  Deserved to sell more than it has so far, and I fear is ever likely to.

Another vote for Fusion Blue...9-3SW 2.8T Aero Hirsch.  And then there's the 9-5 Aero "almost stage 4 and a bit", the 96V4 and the 900 T16S track hack that many of you are familiar with.

Hello Kev, btw...
