I have just had a 'Tyre pressure monitoring failure' warning come up on the dash.
The pressures themselves are fine, so does anyone have any idea what it might be?

Could it possibly just be the sensor in the wheels itself or does that throw up a different error?

Thanks

Has anyone tried fitting some decent rear LED tail lights on a 9-3?

I have a 2008 car and have seen some supposedly CANBus compatible bulbs, though not sure if they truly are.
In theory they should not give a bulb failure warning.

Anyone have any experience with either these are the indicator LED bulbs?

Thanks

I have an '08 9-3 with an SID2 (I believe) It has the main mileage on the left side of the SID, there is a second number exactly in line with the main mileage on the right of the SID.
I thought it was the trip computer or similar, but it doesn't change when I reset everything.

What is it (and can it be reset)?

Thanks

Can anyone tell me what version of the installed audio system this is?

Is/are there any audio systems that can be fitted that will allow 'proper' control of an iPod instead of just an Aux jackplug?

Thanks

Has anyone found any benefits or disadvantages to running the higher priced diesel fuels?

I always used the above versions of petrol in my 9000 Aero and in return I got better fuel economy.

I am about to take delivery of a 9-3 diesel and I'm interested in any pro's and con's (other than price ) with these fuels.

For better or worse I never use any supermarket stuff as my two nearest garages (both on the way home) are Shell and BP

If my car has a DPF fitted, will it just be in the exhaust in place of where you would normally see a CAT of petrol versions?

Saab 9000 (1984-1998) / Emptying Fuel Tank
« on: 06 February 2013, 07:13:24 PM »
As my '97 9000 is now dead, and the fuel tank was brimmed the day before. I'd like to empty the fuel tank to use in the other cars.

Has anyone ever taken the fuel rail etc apart?

Which of the two fuel lines attached to the rail is the best to use?

Thanks

I had a problem last year where something on the main drive belt on my '97 9000 Aero made bad whining noises when starting, the colder the weather, the louder the whine.

It ended when the idler pulley appeared to sieze, taking the tensioner pulley and serpentine belt with it.

After replacing them all everything was fine, but recently the same/ or similar whine has returned.
Tonight I got a loud repeated clacking sound, a bit like the belt going again, but this time the engine died and it has appeared to shower the pulley end of the engine compartment with oil.
The drive belt and the various pulleys still seem Ok.

Could this be a failed oil pump?
Anyone got any other idea's?

It was too dark tonight to see exactly where the problem lies, will take photo's tomorrow.

Saab 9000 (1984-1998) / Driver Electric Window Problem
« on: 29 May 2012, 01:54:57 PM »
Hi I have been having an intermittent problem where the drivers window will stick in whatever position I left it in and the center console switch won't do anything (all other windows work fine), I have tried everything from forcing the button to hitting the console as well as taking off the door skin etc.

I have had the section of the center console apart before and swapped around a couple of the 'rocker' type metals parts.

Does anyone know which are the 3 wires that are used to make the window go up and down on the main harness that plugs into the center console section (it's a large single connector with 20 or so pins)

Thanks

Saab 9000 (1984-1998) / Driver Window Fault, Not Center Switches
« on: 24 August 2011, 03:38:15 PM »
I have a '97 Aero which currently has the problem whereby the driver side window will not operate.

When I got in the car at lunch I pushed driver and passenger switches at the same time to let some cooler air in.
The passenger side worked fine, but the driver side just jinked downward very slightly and now won't work at all.

After lunch I tried again and once more the passenger side worked fine and the driver side just jinked downward very slightly.
I now have a 1inch gap in the driver window which I can't do anything about.

I have taken out the centre console switch bank and cleaned the contacts (also tried swapping a few from the rear swiches etc). Everything still works fine except the driver window.

Are there any other obvious things I should look for when I take the door trim off later?

Thanks
