9-5 Aero 2008
« on: 22 May 2017, 03:56:30 PM »
Picked up my 9-5 Aero saloon this morning.

Had a 2004 Aero a few years ago and that had some issue with performance as it wasn't that quick - this one has no problems with performance! I'm getting better economy than my 2002 9-3 2.0 lpt with the extra performance which is nice. Far nicer place to be too having done less than half the miles of my 9-3.

Very nice. They are really good cars, despite the DE tag.

They look a lot blander now it today's traffic so don't mind the Dame Edna bling. Had more of a play tonight - this thing is a lot quicker than the old 04 Aero I had. I can see what people mean now when they go on about the performance. It feels quicker than the official 0-60 time of 7.8. Mid range reminds me a lot of my old 2.3 Carlsson.

Don't think I'm going to get very good economy from this car!  :o ;) ;D ;D

My 2007 car looks quite understated when seen next to the current German offerings around here this week.  The latest VW Passat has a full width chrome grille.

It's a good point - ie that the Dame Edba bling look is indeed much less pronounced now than when they came out.

I must admit that I am happy with the look of mine. The later Aeros are 260bhp and 350nms so a fair bit more uumph than the earlier models. Like Sgould mine has been Hirsched, which takes the car to a whole different level and strangely enough mpg (currently 36.7). Might be worth considering  ;)

Prefer the colour of yours and the wheels to be honest! Big draw to this one for me was the low miles (62k) and 2 owners (first was GM).

The garage selling said to me that it's the sort of car where you can't really feel the speed and before you know it you're illegal etc. He actaully put me off with that comment as I want to feel the acceleration. Needn't have worried though as I can certainly feel the acceleration when I floor it :D

I get that feeling with my 9-3 TTiD Aero - that's got 400Nm and really really pulls like a train - 60 is very quick to appear so I have eagle eyes for camera's and vans etc!!!!!! ;) I would though still like the size of a 9-5 estate as easier to carry doors and the like - big shame they never did put the TTiD engine in the 9-5; that would have been an awesome car especially with HIrsch tune..................
Who said diesels dead - mine goes allriot
