Yes, no issue for most.

Different for older cars of other makes which don't comply until the early 2000's.

As well as the APC system we have the crazy Finns to thank for this, basically they had their 99s running on all sorts of stuff showing how adaptable the Saab designed engine was.

Saab did a test run in Czechoslovakia in Soviet times when they had a fleet of APC turbos, plus a 900 GLi and a 99 driving on various grades of petrol without any problems.

Filled up my NG 9-5 with E10 yesterday evening in Denham, Bucks. Not much in the way of signage at the petrol station.

Filled up our Golf on Saturday with E5.

It's a bit of a swizz really. Independent testing shows that it's 6-10% less efficient than regular fuel. Yet we're paying the same duty on it, so the Govt gets extra tax revenue for nothing. If it were put into other environmental protection measures, I wouldn't mind...

So, as 98/99 octane is only 5% more expensive than regular fuel, maybe cheaper in the long run?

Two interesting points there, chaps.
I might have missed it, but is the 98/99 octane stuff staying at 5% biofuel?  If so, the case for using it for fuel consumption reasons is worth looking into.

As I understand it, the 98/99 is staying at E5.  At least for now.

Yes, the 98/99 RON may well prove to be more cost effective, firstly because you should get more MPG out of it than E10 and also, for turbo models, the higher octane enables more optimum ignition advance (and thus output)
