Trailer tail lights not working
« on: 19 April 2022, 08:44:13 AM »
Odd one this. I've added a towbar to the 9-3 'vert and used a model specific wiring kit, which included an original GM plug in trailer control module.

Using a tester, I've determined all the lights work except the tail lights. However, if I use Tech 2 and activate the trailer tail lights, they work.

I can only think it's an I-Bus issue.  The Tech2 I-Bus command is getting to the trailer module, but the I-Bus generated by the tail lights in the car isn't getting through.

Must be a programming issue, because the reverse sensors should also be disabled when trailer/caravan electrics are plugged in..

I have a vague recollection of there being a update for the REC for something to do with tow bars but I no longer have a working Windows VM with the TIS2000 release notes in it so can't check.

Can't see it's an I bus issue- it's all or nothing with that.

Further oddity. More testing and I found that using the find me light button on the remote, the tail lights would illuminate for a few seconds then go out. Almost as if the REC was sensing something wrong. I had been using a 21W lamp, and changed that for a ~2W LED. Same thing.

I've got a working TIS2000. I'll check the release notes.

Sorted.

Seems the lack of a proper, permanent load from a filament was upsetting the REC/trailer plug in module. It all worked fine once I plugged a "full" trailer board of lights in.
