Changing instrument unit - MIU

I have been working on the Glacier blue 9-5, it's a 2.0, detuned to 150hp, so I've written myself a stage 1 map.

The news is that the car starts with it, that's a win to begin with  ;D

As the car spec is B205E, there is no boost gauge in the dash. No torque reassurance needle.

I'm pretty sure I have a set of instruments from the cars I have broken & am thinking of swapping the MIU, so looked at WIS, which talks about SPS... so some questions

It seems that the MIU needs to be divorced before removal. Didn't do that. I think there's a workaround by changing chassis number elsewhere, pairing, then changing both to the correct chassis number

If I don't divorce the existing MIU, I assume that will just plug straight back in again

Is mileage (well km anyway) only stored in the engine ECU, so changing dash won't change this

Will the programming just need Tech II, or will this need Tis2000, which I'm less confident with, & unsure if I need online access

The car's been spanner checked, but not MOT'd, so I'm thinking of taking her on circuit to for a run out  :Fawlty:

I’ve not done this, but from talking to Karl (Noobtune)…

The existing MIU will only need to be divorced if you plan to use it in a different car.

If you fit an MIU with a turbo gauge, you need to do some trickery with the VIN.  The next bit is secondhand info.  You need to fit the new MIU, which won’t work.  Then with Tech2, go to DICE and change one of the digits to that of a car that would have a gauge. I can’t remember if it’s the body one or the engine one.  At this point you need to marry MIU. The MIU should work and the turbo gauge should operate. 

Then it gets a bit vaguer… I think at that point you go back to DICE and revert to the original VIN.

The other bit to bear in mind is whether the “new” MIU was divorced from its original car.  If not, you will probably have to run through the divorce routine before you start, but knowing the original VIN of the donor car.

That’s all a bit sketchy but I don’t think I too far off.  It’s all done with Tech2 at the top level.  No SPS as far as I remember from the conversation.

I'm going to need to hope that I still have the ECU from the old car to get the chassis number from then. I should have, but perhaps rather than being on the shelf, it's in another car. Pretty sure I had to let the V5's go when I weighed the shells in

Seems like it's doable, but could be a bit of a trial first time around. Given time pressures, I think the first trial might be Opensid reliant.

Lambda probably more important than the torque gauge anyway, though according to the simulation it should be a bit rich, so safe
