No longer a Saab owner but still see her on occassion.

I now have a Nissan X Trail and have just had it re-mapped from 173 to 221 by Celtic Tuning's agent in Suffolk called Sax Vehicle Services.

The chap who did it was incredibly knowledgeable and it took roughly 45 mins in total uploading my ecu details to Celtic then downloading and installing the re-map. Normally £295 inc but we had 2 cars there so he did it for £250 each. They also kindly changed the oils in gearbox, transfer box and differential box using the Redline Oils I supplied.

The difference is night and day with acceleration being much smoother and quite linear like my TTiD was. Pick up is quick and having been out today MPG is better.

I've had Hirsch upgrades before but found Celtic were excellent if anyone was conditioning it. They warranty car for 12 months and software for 3 years.

Well it looks like I'm leaving the fold again  :-\

Following a clear MOT last week I re-advertised and immediately had 3 enquiries one of which was local and prepared to wait a couple of weeks while replacement arrived.

As you may all recall I had a lovely 2009 Aero Sportwagon TTiD but in the end had quite few issues namely DPF, EGR and MAP so decided time to be gone. It had done 147k and I actually managed to get £2400 for it which really surprised me. I'm sure the chap will be happy with it and knowing me I've now resolved all the issues!!!!

On Monday I should take delivery of an 11 plate Nissan X Trail Tekna in black - lots of goodies inc reversing camera and obligatory xenon headlamps for me.

I'll still dip in and out so won't be totally leaving.

Ok so I seem to have 3 interested in my 9-3 Aero TTiD Sportwagon............................we'll see what happens.

One car I have been looking at is a 9-3X 2.0T Sportwagon on 59 Plate with 123k on it. Got some interesting history...................

At around 90k car was hard to start at cold and they found inlet valves distorting and not sealing compression chamber so head was removed and re-built at cost of around £2.8k then at around 94k noise from suspension revealed back axle locked on so rear axle and haldex clutch unit all replaced at another £2.8k...............then in March at 118k it appears customer found suspension hard and took to Chris Hamley in Derby where he found coil overs were fitted!!!! These were removed and new top mounts, springs and koni shocks were all fitted and anti roll bar links etc for £720.

SO quite a history and last MOT in May said a gaitor deteriorating and slight engine oil leak. The dealer who has it at moment said it's like a weep and nothing under car after a week of use...................

SP for £4k is this a decent buy or what??? Bodywork is immaculate but seems like had an early on poor owner that the most recent had shed loads of cash sorting issues.

As my Aero TTiD estate seems to behaving itself I've been having a hunt around again and after finding a nice 9-3X 2.0T Estate for sale in Aero Spec got very excited but only to find someone else knew what it was and sold!!

I have now though found quite a nice 9-3X Sportwagon TTiD which happens to have an Elk badge just below the X on the tailgate (typical location for dealers to place it) but the guy selling it doesn't know if it has performance upgrade or what - no paperwork saying this and previous owner doesn't know. It's nice spec with electric seats auto wipers sat nav and so on but sadly doesn't have xenon's. The chap has given me the VIN so my Saab parts guy is e-mailing Hirsch to see it it truly does have 200hp or someone has simply bought a badge off eBay or somewhere...............I seem to recall though someone saying occasionally dealers would put some kind of sticker in engine compartment confirming upgrade but where would that be. My 9-5 had upgrade but no engine bay sticker; just the Elk badge on the back.

I've had xenon's on my last 4 cars now so if I went with this can we now get decent halogen bulbs to get anywhere near xenon performance??

Ok so thought my TTiD Aero was all sorted but last week had EML come on but car was running fine so carried on with my drive.

When I got home noticed exhausts were filthy again so thought 'overfuelling'....................... I've recently had a new EGR and have had DPF washed out so tried my Autel code reader - P0105 Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric la la la. Looked this up and all points to MAP sensor. Had a chat with my local chap who told me easy to remove and clean. Upon taking sensor out the black clip snapped (which I've been told happens often but does nothing) found it was absolutely filthy with black sludgy soot so had a go at cleaning it using brake cleaner. Got it to 90% let it dry and put it back in. Started engine and light still on so went for a drive to get engine warm. Stopped, turned ignition off and  after a minute started it again - still on so connected up my little Autel with engine running and managed to clear the code. Had a look at readings and MAP showed around 73kpa at idle and when revved shot up before settling again. Put foot down and gave steady revs at 2000 and MAP reading settled again.

Great thinks me so went for a drive. Seemed better and sat with cruise on for about 10 miles at 70 and it was showing impressive 61 mpg (previously 46). Came off roundabout and floored it to red line - not a wisp of smoke in sight so me thinks solve................ yesterday took load of rubbish to tip and started fine and drove well; emptied car but when starting the light was on again so have ordered replacement which should arrive today. Spoke to 2 dealers for prices and was quoted £212 +VAT for Saab and £112+VAT for Vauxhall..................why so much when I'm getting genuine Bosch same part number with 5 year guarantee for £35??

My question is could anything else be causing the issues as this is the only code that comes up and are those readings right for a cleaned sensor?

Found this while wandering round internet

Expensive but................ what do you reckon MPG wise??

Ok chaps - I think my DPF needs to come off for a clean - new one is way too expensive. 2009 Aero 9-3 TTiD Estate 144k

So i have an idea - how long would you reckon for removal and then re-fitting??

I assume this will then be a massive help to the problems I have had as back of car is getting quite sooty now and I now DPF is full and regens have no effect.

Cheers

Hi chaps

At what mileage/ age would my 2009 9-3 TTiD need the cambelt changing? It is currently on 143k

Hi Guys

Having replaced the EGR I went off on a long distance run down to west country and after 30 miles 'Reduced performance' came up again. Car would gradually reach 70 but come to a hill and down to 55............... so I continued to see what would happen thinking things may get cleared out now EGR clear. Travelled down M11 and round M25 to M4 and when I came to join M4 I had foot down on accelerator worrying it might be a bit hit and miss onto motorway at 6.30 pm when all of a sudden big cloud of mixed colour smoke appeared in rear view mirror and car went like a bat out of hell. I literally flew all the way to Weston S Mare and all seemed to be running well. When I arrived at destination I looked at back of the car and it was filthy with black soot not only on both exhausts but the surrounding bumper and deposits all across the back however it ticked over fine.

Next morning started it and cloud of smoke mostly grey came out exhausts but engine ticked over fine so drove off. I was aware though that under reasonable acceleration I was leaving a slight smoke screen (never ever had this before) but all was running well and fuel economy wasn't bad. I had to stay in Weston for couple of days so looked up Saab specialists in area and found Long Cross Motors with e-mail address Economy Saab only 20 mins away. Called them and explained and took it in. Chap connected Tech2 up and read codes - both of us shocked to find 'DPF Full' come up!!! This was puzzling as car had driven effectively 175 miles on full boost the day before. He said he could see it was over fueling by all the black soot and deposits but found no other codes........... I explained that prior to fitting a new EGR I had one of the injectors resealed as it had a slight weep and this then happened 2 weeks later even before new EGR fitted????? He said it could be one or two weeping inside causing overfueling which generated more soot etc.

Options - use a DPF cleaner and also an injector cleaner which would be around £35 or they could clean the DPF on the car the next day for £150. Option 2 was out as I had to drive home the next morning early. Having said that he did recommend the cleaning agents first and as I had half a tank of Shell V power diesel and would be on motorway for around 5 hours. The car since then has run well and I am slowly getting less and less smoke on hard acceleration but my question is could the DPF be now full of ash and why didn't the driving re-gens keep it clear as I only do long distance fast drives in it; no chugging around??

Sorry car is 2009 9-3 Aero Estate TTiD manual with 143k on clock.

Morning chaps.

Set off for long day down round Bath on Friday. Left at 7 and car running fine...................................

Pulled away very quickly at Barton mills roundabout (wheels tramping to get grip) to avoid lorry with wrong indicator going, so revs pretty high and then car slowed up (as I came off roundabout) and EML came on - slug mode................ managed to find a garage in Newmarket nearby with code reader and he said it related to EGR valve; said he could look fully the next day........... I was in hury as 2 surveys near Bath so after a chat about high revs could dislodge soot and upset sensor he reset for me and car was fine all the way down round M25 and then just as I joined M3 message came up 'Reduced Perfromance'.................. oh sh*t I thought. Not as slow as limp mode as could rev in 1st and 2nd but in 3rd and above a lot less. Could make 70 downhill with a wind but any incline was down to 55.............

Car kept like this to Warminster and then had to drive through Bath to keep next appointment - that was fun going up the hills!!!!! I did my next survey at around 2.30 and got my old code reader out the boot to see if anything was stored - didn't recognise any so simply asked it to clear all codes and see what happens. Got about 50 miles along M4 and Reduced Performance came up again so kept with it at around 60 +-10mph to M25 which was chocker (Uni throw out day etc) - took me nearly 2 hours to get to M11 of stop start................... then going onto M11 I noticed car was responding more to accelerator and then was back to normal..................... I could do whatever speed I wanted and accelerate as hard as I wanted all the way home.................got home and my usual clean and shiny exhausts were absolutely filthy black and yet I had seen no smoke in rear mirrors.

My question is did my chug around M25 on a very hot day burn something off in EGR or exhaust and could it have cleared it all now??? I only use Shell fuel and never do short runs and never had any issue like this before. I've recently though has an injector re-sealed as it was weeping slightly and they said it was slightly carbonised but that was 3 weeks ago. I see EGR's for my model are around £130 from Neo's and from look around sounds like only an hours job. Could it also be something else linked to cause this - will simply replacing do the trick??

Was idling my time through Autotrader and came upon this nice motor.

Pretty rare spec (never actually seen one) as most are sort of Vector spec whereas this one is full Aero spec (Xenon's leather and 18" alloys etc and upgraded by Abbotts so I suspect it has nearer 250 hp than 217. Looks like it came from Belfast.

Hi chaps.

A little while back I had an issue with my rear wiper washer on my 2009 9-3 Aero TTiD Estate. Thanks to Sgould i found it was imply the fuse which once replaced was good.

I have just come back from hols in our camper and nipping to chippy noticed my main windscreen washer jets not working; wipers do but no water. Headlamp washers and rear screen all work fine; simply no water to screen.

Checked fuses underbonnet and replaced F22 just in case but no difference. Unplugged the relay and pushed back in place and still no good. Pulled mudguard forward and all wires seem in place so stumped. Asked wife to listen for wurring of pump but silence apart from her getting wet from headlamp wash. Any ideas??

Oddly I still have issues with outside temp sensor in lower grille. I've got a new one but this still seems to misbehave and wonder if wiring could be iffy......................could these two things be linked???? The loom running across bottom of lower spoiler??

Any help welcomed as obviously illegal at the moment!!

My 2009 9-3 Aero TTiD estate has developed an issue with the rear wiper/washer and not sure what the problem is.

All was fine before we had the really bad weather and sub-zero temperatures last week. My son had to borrow the car while his was in for some work for it's MOT and when it came back yesterday I went to wash the back window as normal as it gets dirty quickly and it wouldn't work. Pushing the switch in made it do it's single wipe but pulling switch up to wash and wipe nothing happened. The intermittent works ok though so it seems related to wash/wipe.

The washer bottle was full as it acts like when the level is low as in at certain point headlamp washers stop when level gets so far down and then when lower still the rear wash/wipe is disabled so all remaining washer fluid goes to the screen.

Is there a separate fuse purely for this or does it sound like the pump has gone or some other reason????

Any ideas chaps as before the freeze it worked perfectly.

Has anyone seen this 9-3 on eBay advertised as a 4 wheel drive 9-3X TTiD.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2010-SAAB-9-3X-SPORTWAGON-1-9-TTID-180-ESTATE-4WD-RARE-LEATHER-9-SERVICES/122900529709?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3D584f8c9dfd994d329730701abfa3bd26%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D2%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D122900529709&_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042

People have quizzed the trader and he says log book states it is 4WD - he's said this....................

5 saab ttid x were made but saab did not put them into retail production. This was owned by saab uk from new and when they closed down the insolvency practicioners sold them off as they were road registered

Anyone believe this?
