Regen?
« on: 29 July 2011, 12:58:58 PM »
Silly question.

How do I know if my car is trying to regen? I have a 93 1.9TiD Vector 150

TIA

Welcome! :)

I only know that the car will smoke a lot while the regeneration is in progress.

An attempted regeneration that fails will bring up a warning.

But I don't think there is any indication that a regen is in progress.

Your mpg will drop quite a bit while a regen is taking place.

Lots of other signs to: jerky throttle response, lower exhaust note, crackling from the exhaust as its so hot and the smoke.
Mine regens a lot and often it fails to finish, never got a warning light or anything though.

Thanks all - appreciated.

I'll take it out later to see what happens. I'm starting to suffer from cardbonising around teh manifold, EGR, boost sensor etc so teh DPF must be similarly built up. Having the usual limp response at low revs.

Will give it a blast and report back.

Poor response at low revs could mean that your egr needs a clean if you haven't already done so!

Hi Merve.

The EGR isn't that old to be honest and the manifold is more clogged than the EGR so I think it's more likely the little paddle things in the manifold.

Will report back.

Will report back.

Any news?  The reason I ask is I've just had the inlet manifold replaced on mine, and it's transformed the car!!

To cut down the cost I bought from Neo Bros, and got my local indie to fit it.
