It's the blue pipes. They are not original. It may be OK, but there are a lot of pipes in the system and it's difficult to say exactly what's been changed.
And added to that, the original system in the 2001 car (well, 1998-2003) was flawed and Saab issued several updates, culmination in "version 6". In 2004 th engine block was modified and the engine breathing system completely changed.
I fitted v6 to my 2002 car. See picture below.
It looks like the fuel tank venting (EVAP) has been modified too. Again it may be fine. It's something Saab did themselves in 2004/5 onwards.
I think you need someone familiar with the engine to have a quick look. Whereabouts are you? there may be a Saab meeting near you, or a Saab Specialist nearby.
There may be other mods to your car. There's an aftermarket strut brace across the back of the engine between the tops of the front suspension struts. So who knows what else has been done?
