Info system blank
« on: 18 June 2012, 08:35:31 PM »
tonight the info system (which shows temp, fuel consumption etc) went totally blank.  Not showing anything (same as if "night mode" selected by pressing R and INFO together).  If you shine a light on the display you can still see the correct indications (very dimly).  Is it easy to fix?  Any advice gratefully received.

Hopefully it just needs some new bulbs in the back, failing that have you looked at it in the dark? I had one where the light sensor went faulty and so it thought it was dark all the time and dimmed the display right down.

Hi Audax.  many thanks.  I've tried it in the dark and it's still blank.  Is it difficult to get to the bulbs to change them - and does anyone know where you can get spare bulbs from?

The bulbs just unscrew from the back of the unit, I can't recall what size they are but you should be able to get them from a dealer or a specialist or possibly ebay, I think you may need to search for something like "neo wedge" bulb to find them, I'd remove the unit and get the bulb out and measure it first though.

thank you.  I guess I need to take the top off the dash to get the binnicle out?

Yeah, from memory top of dash off, there are guides out there I'd search for them as there are a few bits you can lose down the back of the dash. I'd be tempted at this point to replace all the bulbs and check them before you put it all back together  ;D
