Shell Optimax & BP Ultimate Diesel etc (Any Good)
« on: 08 February 2013, 07:03:28 PM »
Has anyone found any benefits or disadvantages to running the higher priced diesel fuels?

I always used the above versions of petrol in my 9000 Aero and in return I got better fuel economy.

I am about to take delivery of a 9-3 diesel and I'm interested in any pro's and con's (other than price ) with these fuels.

For better or worse I never use any supermarket stuff as my two nearest garages (both on the way home) are Shell and BP

Thanks
Skiddins

For a while, when I was commuting to & from LHR, I tried the V-power diesel. The increased cost was not cancelled out by better mpg, which worked out the same. Granted, the engine ran smoother, and I used it when away with the caravan so it would hopefully pull better. I seemed to not need to change down as much on long hills while pulling my 1100kg of large white box.  However, I will be interested to see what happens with my latest auto version of the trusty 150-horsed 'wagon...
