All back and working.  Took a while longer than planned.  The puddle lamp in the bottom of the door trim broke - just aged plastic.  And when I put the door speaker back, it identified a bad connection and some tweaking of the connector was needed.

Will,

these bits you've been carrying round - are they a kit that it would be worth the likes of me keeping with the car?

I just spotted this is in the 9-5 forum rather than the 9-3ss.....is this a problem the 9-3 suffers with too?

It did it a few times on my last 9-5, but the frequency of window up/down is possibly higher than most as I have to fob in and out of work every day.

I identified that there is a weakness in the design- the mechanism is pop riveted to the door. This flexes as the window goes up and down and the aluminium of the rivets starts to wear with time, allowing more flex/movement etc.

I replaced the rivets with screws and washers and didn't have to replace the rollers again.

It's a 9-5 only mechanism, or at least not the 2003-on 9-3.  That uses a wire pulley system.  The early ones were a "bit weak"...

The whole mechanism comes as an assembly. Two sorts, depending on whether there's one-touch closing or not.
