Sprucing up your interior door handles
« on: 03 August 2023, 08:49:35 AM »
My Aero having a nearly all grey and black interior, I keep wondering how to give the interior a bit of a lift. I was in an Audi the other day which had some black carbon fibre trims on the dash and in the doors which looked really good.

So I am thinking of a similar carbon fibre wrap/dip on things like the drivers side instrument binnacle, but also the interior door grab handles. Has anyone had this done, or maybe painted them?

I've seen those leather covers - all seem to come from Lithuania for some reason. I like the leather Hirsch dash surround too, but not enough to pay 300 quid for it!!

I bought a hirsch leather set for my old 93. They definitely elevated the old rubberised handles. Iirc, they were just a shell that snapped over the handle mount with the leather glued over - I think (it was a long while back) there was a single screw to remove/loosen the handle for proper access. I've seen users on other forums removing the old rubber skin and re-rubberising or adding films. I also had a leather parking brake handle - that was a complete handle swap.

Actually those do look good. I bet they were expensive though?

I think they were about ?350. I had a quick google and I don't think they make them any more. There are a few lookalikes, similar sort of price.

This looks a bit cheaper: https://www.saabplanet.com/diy-saab-9-3-peeling-door-handle-fix/
