Thanks- we'll take all suggestions on board so to speak and review things if there's enough support :)

We call our "Moderator" sections "The ECU"  just as an FYI

Also - how about a general/off topic area?  Or is that not the direction of this forum?

Perhaps an welcome/introduce yourself section would be nice - I was looking for this to post and say hello.  I used to post LONG LONG time ago on Saabscene - heck, I still have some decals laying around!

<--- Saab Enthusiast/Former Saab tech - about to be a Dealer Tech again in less then 2 weeks.  Good shit.

Also - I am a mod/original member of Saablink.net - also now owned by autoguides.... a few of us elite have another new general forum which was created called:  www.foundourownroad.com

That site is a non biased forum for anything automotive or pedal sort - even home repair! lol

I wish you all luck here and I'll check in from time to time and contribute where I can.  Good Luck and congrats on your new Independence from autoguide.

Welcome Burnsside  8)

I remember you from Saabscene. I do still visit TSL, though I don't think I've posted since the New Jersey post  ;D

Why not just have a catch all section called SAAB projects?

Could cover a multitude of sins  :-\

Is there an issue with the log in?  I seem to have to log in 2-3 times before it takes.  I enter the same password everytime and it denies me on the first attempt everytime so far.

Sorry about this.  Seems to be a glitch of some sort.  See here: http://saabtechtalk.com/forum/index.php/topic,141.0.html

1)  Is it possible to move the show unread posts
further away from the show new replies
as it is quite easy to click on it by mistake?

2) Is it possible to display the first sentence or so of each post when hovering the mouse over it (as they do in the USA forums?

Would it be possible to add a "View my posts" button so that I get a page which would show me all the threads on which I have commented?

It makes it easier for me to find threads I have been involved with a lot quicker and saves me inadvertantly commenting in the same thread twice....

Or is there already a way to do this that I haven't yet found?  :-[

I've had a quick look through the options and I can't see a way of doing either of the above requests.

It may be possible with changing the in-built code, but we are very reluctant to do that as it will make the installing of routine software upgrades difficult in future.

There is a way.  When you are logged in, go to PROFILE > SUMMARY then on the left below your name there is a link that says SHOW POSTS.

You could always copy the URL for this link and add it as a bookmark to your browser for easy access.

It's perhaps not as integrated and elegant as we'd all like, but it makes it possible to do what you want.  I think?

Remember, there is always the Show new replies to your posts. link at the top of the page which is slightly different but also helpful.

Great suggestions!  It's a learning process for all of us at the moment.  As SGould says, there is a reluctance to make 'under the bonnet' changes at the moment as we do not wish to cock up any maintenance upgrades that will be required in the future.

Certainly good suggestions and it is something that perhaps can be introduced in the future.

Please keep the suggestions coming, even if we can't do it straight away, we would like to adapt things in the future if it makes STT easier to use.  8)

Again, good suggestions.

At the moment the concern is that we introduce too many forums that makes it confusing and unweildy with people being unsure where to post.

A modding section could be useful.  The How-To section - what do you have in mind?  Can these exist in forums as stickied topics (such as the Tech II info already posted) or will there be too many for this?  Let us know more of your thoughts?

Is this the same as a modding section, perhaps?
