The other problem with any colour other than silver/black is that they show the dust and dirt far more and require regular cleaning.

Heheh - that's just it telling you when to clean it. An added bonus in my books  8)

That looks like you have painted the discs too? are you hoping the pads will clear the swept area? if so are you not bothered about contamination/glazing of the pads?
Nice to see copper slip being used  8)

Yes it does look like I've painted the discs too but that is the way they came out of the box. They're Pagid from ECP and apparently it's a special coating, doesn't need degreasing etc. I have to say that with their pads too they bedded in quicker than anything else I've ever known.

Also lasting for years - Humbrol Enamel Paint; those little tins that modellers use.

Were those painted in situ??

they look great

also, my rear discs are looking really bad too, not the braking part, just the round bit where the wheel bolts up to, can this be painted aswell???

Yes, en situ.

I did remove the rears when I changed the pads, and could have painted them then, but decided not to (plus I needed the car the next day), but painted all that I could, and would be noticeable. I'll get around to painting the last 5% as and when.

I haven't painted the hubs themselves - they just had a liberal dose of copperease.

Can concur that the colour scheme stands up well to dust/dirt, and doesn't show it so much. There's a tin of clear lacquer I'll apply fairly soon. Just wanted to make sure the paint has dried really hard.

What's that stuck on the brake pad ?

Looks like it's spring loaded ?

It's a wear indicator. When the pad wears down it scrapes against the disk.

Is it fitted to all models ?

And is it the type that throws a light onto the dashboard ?

The wear indicator is fitted to the front outer pad on all Saab original pads.  No electrics, it just touches the disc and squeals!

The new discs I fitted last month were Saab original.  They too were sprayed with zinc paint.  It's all come off now.  It didn't come off with brake cleaner.

I don't think it's that universal. I don't recall seeing any for the 9000 or C900 with acoustic wear indicators. I suspect it's only ever been front pads and only from the GM9-3 onwards :)

Yellow IS the colour if you really want a change. Just like the 997 Turbo S below (my dream car (in coupe guise))

Tempted to do mine when its disc and pad change time.
