Classic Saab 9-5 (MY 1998-2010) / Re: Strange light

We could start a caption competition on what else the symbol could be....or is that more the sort of thing they have on Honda type R or ford ST forum? Is that correct plural of forum?

I've recently gone Saab to merc e class. I really like the new car but must admit I miss the Saab. My issue is I do 25k a year so really can't keep a car more than about. 5 or 6 years max. Might seem obvious, but once you leave Saab it's probably forever given there are no new ones to feed through.

Speaking to my local trusted garage, their view was that there are good replacement parts easily available at reasonable costs for mercy given there are so many on European roads through all countries. Regular servicing not expensive.

Would also reiterate comment that post 2005 cars excellent quality again.

That's been my opinion to date but at 150 odd k miles, and given I rely on it daily to cover 80 miles or so, I do wonder if the inevitable is approaching.

Got the linkage adjusted and seems ok for now. I didn't see how 2nd gear would be done - the car is almost always just cruising in 5th.

I'm wondering if it's time to change though. Had the car 5 years and put a lot of miles on. I travel 80 miles a day so perhaps time for a newer car with a warranty...

If I do sell, I'll miss the car a lot and not sure what I'd get?

Classic Saab 9-5 (MY 1998-2010) / 9-5 1.9 tid 2009 2nd gear popping out
« on: 24 November 2015, 09:44:55 PM »
Very occasionally at low speed in a q, second year pops out.

No other issues although have had a slight transmission whine for about 20k

2009 car with 153k miles.

Nearly all motorway miles in 5th. Original clutch/dmf

Please tell me it's not syncro and I need a new box.

Thanks!!

I've used mytyres and more recently lovetyres who have both been excellent. Lovetyres prices tend to be slightly keener.

I'd reiterate suggestion of the cross climates or nokian weatherproof which I plan to go for next time.

Thanks

I think I'm going to give the 225/50 a go.

Interested to know if you've had any negatives from using 225/50s as I've been thinking of moving to them next change.

Was thinking about those too as I use the WR A3 tyre year round now. Michelin gets a w rating though..

Would be very interested to hear your experiences of the michelins as I'm thinking about those next.

Jim

I'll sell you my sept 2009 9-5 that's had egr and dpf done and upped to 190 bhp. Only 150k miles.....

You can have your own dog guard free....

Or maybe not as I'd then become you with no idea what to replace it with!

😜

Best tyres I've had on the same car were Goodyear assymetrics. I also recently had uni royal rainsport3 which I really liked and were at a great price on lovetyres.

I believe the UK opted out of the pan European agreement to allow access to registration data. So if you get physically stopped you are subject to a fine, but if it's a camera they can't get your data.

Believe that may change in 2017.

Which is why I never speed. Til now anyway...
