Engine No for modified injector wiring
« on: 10 August 2012, 03:48:05 PM »
Hi, first post so be gentle, I have a 2006 (facelift model) 93 sportwagon with the 1.9 Tid 150 engine that has started having an intermittent misfire between 1500 & 2000 rpm.
I was wondering whether this may be related to the No. 3 injector wiring and whether my car has a modified wiring loom.
Anybody any idea of the engine number when/if this was modified?
Would this be the same as the Vauxhall engine number?

Thanks

Pull the top cover off the engine and look at injector number 3, if it has a different connector it has the modified harness. All the modified loom consists of is a connector and some cables that you have to wire in yourself, they never replaced the whole engine loom. Faulty injector wiring tends to be a problem all the time, but you can test by wiggling the connector while the engine is running, you'll soon here if it's bad or not.

Thanks Audax,
I pulled the cover and all of the connectors are the same and have blue locking tabs (picture attached), does this mean I have the modified connectors?
From what I've read on Vauxhall forums the original connectors have yellow locking clips while the modified ones are blue and not so "open".
Assuming I have the modified connectors what else causes a misfire between 1500 - 2000 rpm and a "stutter" when gently applying the throttle after say rolling down a hill with your foot off the throttle? I've cleaned the MAP sensor and EGR valve.
This is the first diesel I've owned and it's getting to me, the sad thing is I really love the car.

Thanks

That's original factory wiring on your car, it's unlikely to be injector number 3 at fault with the symptoms you've described so far.

I'd suggest if you have stuttering it's likely to be either a faulty EGR (sticking sometimes), bad injector or you need the engine ecu upgraded to a later software, some of the earlier software versions do cause stutters and poor running.

I'd suggest taking the car to a specialist or dealer and get them to check what software the engine management has as a first step.
