Well it wasnt my first choice! But when I went to view it I unclovered some serious history with the car - It is the first of its model to be registered in the UK (Chassis No2) Chassis 1 was crash tested!. It was owned and run by the then MD of Maserati UK who ran it for a few years. It was Built with all the options and the ultra rare Maserati Split rims an option the MD personally paid for.
Lots and lots of history, runs on the button, and gearbox is sweet as a nut.
Downsides, the speedo has a mind of its own, althyough giving a reading it can waft around like a cats tail!. It doesnt do much above 18mpg if your really really careful! and the dogleg box takes a bit of getting used to - reverse is in there somewhere honest!.

Welcome to STT :) Any pics of the Maserati?  8)

Ill get some up over the weekend, shes laid up at min for winter!.

Great idea this.

1979   Cortina 2000 GXL  (1973)
1981   Capri 3000 Ghia    (1978)
1983   Hillman Imp           ( 1971)
1984   Cavalier Coupe     ( 1978)
1985   Cortina 1600L       (1971)
1986   Opel Manta Berlinetta (1980)
1991   Astra GTE                    ( 1988)
1994   Calibra 16v                  ( 1990)
1997   Omega Estate ( Guess when the children arrived? ) (1995)
2000   Jensen Interceptor ( 1973 )
2004   Saab 9000 CSE ( 1995 )
2007   Saab 9000 Aero ( 1997)
2008   Chevrolet Astro Day Van ( 1995)
2009   Jaguar XJS HE (1986 )

I still have the Jensen and I dont think I will ever sell it. It does 8000 miles most years and I will have done 100,000 miles in it since I bought it soon.

Very jealous of the Jensen. What was the XJS like? Any pics of the XJS or Jensen?  8)

Blimey, some of you have owned lots of cars. Makes my list (covering well over thirty years) a little embarrassing, so I've included motorcyles  :o

Early/Mid 1970s - Vespa 90 (student transport)
Mid 1970s - Honda 150  (student transport)
Mid 1970s - Ford 100E (student transport)
Mini Cooper 997cc -  (student transport)
VW Golf L Mk1 - (first 'married' car)
Lancia Beta Coupe -  (company car)
SAAB 99T -  ;D
Fiat Strada CL -  (bought for work use)
Rover P5B - (an indulgence)
Lancia Beta HPE - (company car)
Toyota Spacecruiser (family transport)
Mitsubishi Shogun 2.8 diesel  (family transport)
SAAB 9000 CSE Anniversary (couldn't resist)

Yes some of the Jensen

The XJS was rubbish, a very smooth and refined car but the electrics and the way it was screwed together was terrible.

Its one of the few cars that drive as well as they look, a lot of cars look very sexy but drive like a Luton van or lack the performance you would expect them to have.

The Interceptor looks great, sounds even better and drives like a car should. Smooth, powerful and the correct amount of driver feedback. Its like going everywhere in your living room.

The best way of turning £'s into noise.

The only down side is the filling it up, £125 and that will do about 250 miles if your careful. I took it to Germany a couple of months back and spent over £500 getting there and back. Worth every penny.

Tell me about it.
A P5B gets around 16-18mpg, but as you say sometimes it just worth it. My old car....

That would be nice, 10 to 13mpg is more like it. :o

I took it to a Castle Coombe day once and used a hole tank in 66 miles, about 3.5mpg. :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

Yes I took a picture of it a couple of years back.

It is completely knackered, the owner was told it was worth £25k so is holding on for that.

It is a very rare Italian built Vignale car but in its present condition is probably worth about £1k for parts if you have one.

For those that dont know the first couple of years of production the body shells were produced in Italy but the quality was so bad that was transferred to West Bromwich.

He'll be holding on for quite a while then! That car has been there for years.

Love that old Rover too.

Anyone know the film this one's from without cheating:
