To SORN or not
« on: 29 March 2020, 12:49:25 PM »
Well with the current restrictions, I'm not really getting the benefit of being able to enjoy driving the Aero at the moment.

Given that it is not my main car, I was wondering if I ought to SORN it until this all calms down. But if I do, then I won't be able to use it at all!!

If I had a garage I could put it in to rest, I would!!!! Then at least I could get on with some jobs on it!!!

We have two cars parked in the garden, neither have moved for a while, so I'm also considering a SORN on one of them.  BUt the best way of saving money would be to cancel the insurance, which being in the London area, is extortionate.

The trouble is, no one knows how long this will last.

But if you cancel the insurance and the car is in your front garden and not in a lock up garage, that could be a bit risky.

You would just need fire and theft cover, surely? Not full cover for accidents while driving about.

Do they still do Fire & Theft?
I remember some years back the price was the same as Fully Comprehensive.

You may find TFPT is more expensive than fully comp (yes really)

They'll no doubt charge an admin fee to take it off, and then another to put it back on as well.

If you needed to use a car quickly, insurance & MOT is important, tax can always be added afterwards, because it gets backdated to the start of the month.

Aye, I was going to make that very point, i.e. that you might save less than you think once that's deducted.
