9.5 Wiper arm lengths
« on: 12 November 2014, 12:05:06 PM »
Anyone know the correct length of wiper arms for a 2007 9.5 please?

Found a stone chip on the windscreen so Autoglass will be with me on Friday to repair it. A nice surprise is that they are currently offering replacement Bosch wiper arms free of charge. Just want to make sure I get the right ones   :)

Sits back and waits for SGould or Phoenix to reply  ;D

Not sure about the wiper arms but the wiper blades if genuine Saab are 570mm/22.5". The usual size used as replacement is 23" (same both sides) but 24" also works fine.

Hmmmm.
Man from Autoglass came.
Repaired the chip.
Told me it was a repair of a poor repair previously done.
Because of this I don't get the replacement Bosch wipers.  :'(

Con artist to get out of replacements - I use 24" Bosch retro fit aero twin blades which have been brilliant and on car for a year now and still fine. Can't remember price as they came from local motor factor Wilco but were way cheaper than Halfruads etc and beat most internet sites

I was still hesitating over the make/length of wipers for the 9.5 when the wife spotted 24" flat wipes in Tesco at only £3 each.

Maybe not a first choice, but certainly better than the current set up. So I bought a couple. Have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Even if they last only a year or two, at these prices I will simply replace them with another set.  :)

I had some of them, looking at my records they lasted around 18 months.

Cheers for that.

Hhhmmmm.  A quick calculation and I estimate, if I change them every 18 months, I can achieve 7.5 years before I approach the cost of one Bosch set.  ;D

Blimey, didn't realise the life expectancy of the Bosch was so low  :-\
Had Tesco flats on my 9k and also on the 4x4 and they performed fine.
These new ones look to be a different design, so hopefully that means a better wipe!

How well did they fit David?

My Bosch ones are still doing fine some 14 months after fitting them.

Just wondered what the connection looked like and whether they sit high off the screen where the hook arm fits.

I just missed out on a pair of the newer wiper arms which have the more modern side fixing pins on them which keep it all low.

BTW - last service in May 2014 I had the special offer 'Ducks Back' screen treatment done. It's still as good as the day it was done in that water streams off the screen when up to speed - that is when not in limp mode :(

What speed does the screen start to clear?  RainX needs 40 mph.  I've trie the longer lasting stuff like Ombrello and GTech but I found they only worked above 50 to 60 mph.  Lots of people rave about GTech.  It didn't work for me.

Hi Will

I reckon it starts to clear before 40 mph. It sheds water the minute it hits it so even screenwash wizzes off quickly unless screen is filthy from following a lorry. Sorry it's Duxback.

I tried RainX once and found it wasn't a patch on this stuff - not sure if it's still on special offer from Saab Service Club.....just looked and it's £29.99 carried out by dealers and says guaranteed for 6 months. Mine has been on over a year now and still performs well. Halfrauds are doing it for £24.95................

They fitted surprisingly easily.
The design has changed since the last time I bought a set with the new shape sitting much closer to the screen. During a recent rain/sleet downpour they work perfectly well

I took a quick snap, which hopefully shows it better.
