Problems when logging in
« on: 07 February 2012, 08:45:27 AM »
Is anyone else having a problem logging in? I'm getting a 'timeout' message on Firefox, and 'unable to connect to server' on IE.

This happened to me last night at around 7pm (UK) and again this morning at 7:30am (UK), and in both instances, each failure lasted approx 20 - 30 mins. I tried both Firefox and Internet Explorer.

I'm sure this is not my Middle East internet connection as I can freely log in on other sites and forums.

I didn't have a login problem as such, but there was a period when access was a bit hit and miss.  I kept getting error messages of different types, but it wasn't a solid lockout for the whole time.

No problems here either.

(Though Firefox just won't remember passwords, for here nor my BTYahoo home page no matter how many times I tweak the settings.
At least it loads faster than IE.)

Are you in one of the countries that routinely block access to certain sites (political, porn etc.)?

I am (what are you saying!?  :o) but it still happens even if I use Expat Shield.
No other sites are failing to log me in at the same time - I can even log into Poker Stars and play poker online - which is a no-no here, so I really don't think it has anything to do with that.
Out of all the websites I use, this is the only one  that does it  :-\

Was just asking as I've kind of worked in a related field in the past. Sometimes our proxy servers would screw up and until a certain amount of time had passed it'd break things and this would sound like a prime suspect given where you are located and what might be between you and the rest of the world. Saying that if expat shield is a VPN that terminates somewhere that isn't naughty it's probably not the case  ;)
