Radio came on by itself.
« on: 10 July 2012, 09:05:31 AM »
Bit of an odd one.

My wife sings.  So she likes to advertise the concerts with posters on the dashboard.  Yesterday she got out of her 2003 Vector saloon and locked the car.  Then she realised that she hadn't put he posters back on the dashboard, so she opened the driver's door, took an A4 poster out of her bag and put it on top of the dashboard while still standing outside the car.

As she put the poster down, the radio turned itself on.  ???

The key was in her hand outside the car.

When you say the radio came on? did it turn itself on and play music or was it just the head unit lit up?

I've seen a case where with a faulty ignition switch that the radio won't power off (amongst other problems) and what can happen is if you set the TA (traffic announcements) to on it can suddenly turn the radio on too.

It started playing music.

The last time we had oddities, the CIM was changed.  That time the wipers would wipe if you touched the CIM or the wiper stalk without moving it.

the key doesn't need to be in the ism for the radio to work, just press the volume knob & it switches the radio on..

the radio switches off if you lock the car with the fob
