Hi Jim, I've got the catalogue on PDF which covers everything from 200 to 2008. Send over your email, I'll send it back.

That one in the snow has a price then of £3995, compared to £3495 now.

Most of Mark's stock doesn't seem to hang around long.

He works out of his own premises near the Severn Bridge, and keeps around 10 cars in stock.  All his cars are prepared by him and serviced/checked by an Indy Saab specialist in Bristol (ex-main dealer men).

SWMBO has an '08 9-3 TID Vector Sport with 84k on the clock.

We bought it nearly 2 years ago with 72K.

Have done timing belt (£200.00) and flywheel/clutch (£580.00).

Also replaced front suspension top mountings as £120 for the pair.

No problems so far with DPF or EGR, however it does chuck out a bit of smoke (only noticeable at night under hard acceleration). Average 38mpg based on 6K pa on short trips.

Hopefully its good for another 50-60k....so it's a keeper.

I changed my Aero for '12 plate Pug 508 1.6HDI SW.

£30 road tax and 40+ MPG is nice.

Had it for a month now and have to confess that is is a great car and a great alternative to a 9-5 estate. Many people have commented on how much space there is in the front compared to the 9-5.

Very quiet/refined and the interior quality is superb. Love the panoramic roof!

Miss the power of the Aero, but in reality I didn't ever really get to use it properly and in 'normal' every day motoring the 1.6 HDI is not too bad.

Many thanks gents for the brochures and other info. Good reading and v useful.

I am going to have a chat with Mark Arnold and see what he could do for me - it looks like my budget might be able to creep up a little to about 5k now having landed quite a nice project last night so I now have to just sort two niggling things on the V70 (reluctor ring on ABS £35 + hour labour £45) and get climate control fully calibrated (Saab is a breeze compared to re-setting this thing via laptop) and then I think it's good to go. I'm not going to be stupid in the pricing of the V70 but have spent a fair amount on her (wishbones, intercooler, complete rear brakes inc callipers, gearbox flush twice) so hoping for around £3400 which seems to be going rate...............we'll see.

Again thanks for all the help and lets see what I can get - prob Vector Sport Est 1.9 Tid manual or auto - not sure yet.

90k but general advice on all cars with this engine is to do it sooner. I did mine (and water pump) at 70k and many have done  at 60k. I think it's the water pump that is the weakness rather then the belt so need to do both.

So will that be in theory 90k then 180k and so on or as you've done say 70k and then 140k?? From what I understand it's not that expensive to do and did I hear someone say they used a Fiat/Alfa garage to do it once as they do it perhaps more often than anyone else??  ???

Correct and when I did it I got the parts off Internet for less than £100 (Saab pump and I think it was an Alfa branded belt) and got local garage to do it. Can't remember cost but in the scheme of things not a lot.

Cheaper in any respect then to this V70 D5 pullies and the lot etc.................... but this engine would be fab in a 9-5 - I just love the 5 cylinder burble :)

Cambelt doesn't fail on the 1.9 but the water pump does and shreds the belt, personally I would do the belt and pump every 60k which for a complete kit and dealer rates expect to pay in the region of £400-£500, obviously less for specialists and a good Vauxhall, FIAT, Alfa specialist could do the job too so you could get it done for £300 (don't use cheap or non-genuine parts though!).

The good thing about that engine is that the design means that in the event of a cam belt failure pistons won't hit valves but will still cost in the region of £600-800 to sort.

Possibly not as nice as the V6 in my old Mitsubishi Galant. Or the V12 in a neighbour's Aston Martin DB7 Vantage.

PS - brochures arrive OK?

Yes they did thanks Geoff - I have 2 lots now as Will sent them as well :)

Do you know what the DB initials stand for on Aston Martin - think tractors and you'll arrive at who owned it once - met his grandson only couple of weeks ago...................

Little over my budget but that is the dogs dangly bits. Even vented seats!

You see what I mean about condition and tyres............that's got Michelins on so they could afford to run it.

UPDATE: The guy in Norwich has reduced that car down to £4995 now - I suppose he realised after my chat with him that he'd never have sold it at a grand over top book at dealers!  ;D
