Door pull handles
« on: 07 June 2016, 08:34:12 AM »
Trying to remove the interior front door pulls for a bit of refurbishment. Taken out the two plugs and slackened off the two screws within, but door pull still stuck fast. Do I need to apply mighty force or am I missing something?

I've never taken these off, but I think they are part of the door panel and not separate.

If you remove the screws completely the door panel should come off, after pulling the rest of it off the poppers.  I can look at the workshop manual later, but it won't be before this evening.

Many thanks. I've done a bot of Googling and it does look as thought the whole door card has to come off. Not sure I can separate the handles even if I do that though. I may have to refurbish in situ which could be a bit tricky.

I did this on my wife's 9-3.  The handles were held with clips (which had broken)  but once the card was off, I could separate them.  To be honest, one separated itself!! :)

I tried gluing but it didn't work.  New handles were surprisingly cheap.

I'm back home! :)

The front door trim is held on by three screws.  Two in the door pull accessed by removing the face of the door pull.  The third is under the screw cover behind the door pull.

The trim over and around the window needs to be pulled off before the panel can be pulled away at the bottom and then lifted out of the window opening.

The parts list doesn't show the door pull as a separate part.  Just the face of the pull which is removed to access the screws.
