I have good news for you...

Yes they do fit, either Insignia A or Astra J, but it's not exactly a straight swap

Which 9-5 NG do you have & where re you.

I can maybe provide additional guidance or a recommendation

Today I fitted a new drivebelt to try & solve the chirp when cold. It was more difficult to put the new one on than take the old one off, so I suppose that tells me something

The good news is that when I started the car, there was no chirp. Cold start tomorrow will be the ultimate test.

Hi,
I have a 2011 tid Ng, what year with a front and rear subframes, made of cheese, on the lookout for replacements, please could you indicate what year insignia ones would fit, and judging by your narrative, there's a bit of welding and drilling to do
Thanks

OK, so yours is a FWD car, this makes things easier, because the rear of the AWD subframe is quite different to the FWD ones.

You can get a used front subframe from an Insignia A/Astra J, I paid £40 which was a bit of a bargain especially with regard to its condition, or even buy a new one for about £230

You will need to make some mods. Primarily the drilling of holes for the 2 bolts each side that hold the large plastic undertray clamps in place, mounting bracket for the ride height sensor, transfer the bracket for the power steering. Transfer over the 4 subframe bushes, unless you can source some. There are two part numbers, one is available, one is not, I took the view that it would be better to transfer over the existing correct ones rather than use others which would have different NVH characteristics.

You will need to inspect the rear portion of the subframe, the FWD may be more compatible than the AWD version, where the difference is due to the propshaft / exhaust

On the rear subframe, I know far less, but have looked up the parts and it seems that some Insignia models use the same part number 13336906 & on ebay. You don't want to know the price of a new one

That looks a good price.

Mine came from an Astra J GTC  IIRC, so I went to the Imaxle website & noticed that the description was Astra only.

I headed over to https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155581110438? to have a look at the Insignia ones & I think I have spotted a difference. Look at picture 5. The Insignia has two triangular cutouts each side on the bottom which is what the undertray clamps use. It's not too difficult to cut those out to allow the captive bolt inserts to be put in place

Looks like the We;sh air isn't good for subframes, mine came from Merthr Tydfil

Are you doing the work yourself, or getting a garage to do the swap ?

Thoughts on the rear end.... is it really cheese or will a wire brush, anti rust treatment & paint do the job for you. Mine cleaned up OK.

I have wire brushed and undersealed the rear, as you did, and will see how that lasts, but as this is a keeper, I am building a stock of replacement parts.
The car came from Devon last week, and was probably used to launch inshore lifeboats judging by the state of it underneath.
Are you saying that the astra j subframe will need more work than the insignia, still have time to cancel,
Garage will be doing the swops, as I've got no hoist
Thanks

Glad you have the rear done already

I think you will be better with an Insignia one, now I have seen the difference. I didn't know what I was looking for, and knew I would do whatever was needed to save the car.

I would also be more concerned about different compliance bushes affecting NVH. I have a set of Astra ones sat around doing nothing at the moment. Insignia is closer in mass to the NG

It's a keeper is it... low miles I assume. Why not create your own thread & chuck some pictures up?
