I also did the chassis using the same method, but made sure the exhaust and brakes were protected!

Hi Steve,

Just watched their video!

Rustproofing a brake disc and exhaust doesn't warm me to them!!!

Seriously though, you could do exactly the same at home, or ideally in a hoist for only a few pounds.
I made up my own applicator, warmed the Waxoyl with around 20% white spirit and hey presto!

SGould, can I ask a numpty question?
The faulty wing mirrors were down to the switch in the door or the switch on the dash?

Looks like condensation to me. The varying VERY wet and bright VERY sunny days plays havoc with car interiors. IMHO
Usually a short drive will force air around the car (any excuse to drive your SAAB) but if stood for a few days you will get this.

Morning Steve,

I would suggest removing the rear lights on a 9-3, though I am not that familiar with their construction.
On the 9-5, I removed the wheel arch liners, which gives great access - it is very straightforward to do,
The spray system was used for all those difficult areas you cannot reach. Mix 2 parts waxoyl to 1 part white spirit, then stand the container in some very hot water for 10 minutes before use.Ensure you get the maximum pressure in the container to ensure a fine wide spray pattern. If you do decide to follow this method make sure you have some old cloths and plastic containers to collect the excess waxoyl - it can get rather messy!
Finally be warned, it will smell in the cabin for a few days until the wax hardens, so try and keep the windows open when possible.

PS: I used Flag rust remover and paint (made for the marine industry) for the inner arches, I also used rust remover followed with Tetroseal sprayed on to the chassis.

Not sure if this helps, but the 9-5 has removable wheel liners  - there is no need to drill any holes as with a bit of investigation you should find a suitable access point - after all the water got in there in the first place.
Once you have treated the rust, paint it first (Hammerite is ideal) then apply the waxoyl or in my case Tetroseal.

I made up a 'Heath Robinsonish' type of pump from an old fence sprayer for the general area along with a spare nozzle from an old aerosol cavity wax can. IT worked surprisingly well, especially as you can create far higher pressure resulting in a much wider and finer spread.

Assuming this is a 9-5, I had the same problem.
So I removed the part, glued it back together then applied some GRP reinforcement to the back side, which causes it to flex, but not snap. HTH

Turtlewax Sealant Wax is a tough product. I have used it for some time and it continues to perform admirably.
There are a number of product tests on Youtube about this product, if it helps.

Wire wool also works well. To protect the engine marks from returning I used Turtlewax Sealant Wax which contains hydrophobic sealants.
It will not totally prevent it from returning, but will slow it down considerably.
The sealant is also good for alloy wheels.

Bought this as a safe mode of transport for the wife and 4 children.
The children have all now left the nest, so we decided to keep it until it goes pop! Trouble is it  just just keeps going and as it is only used by the wife for town trips, very little mileage (106k).
Needs a new exhaust and a good service. Just changed the oil and filter.
Shogun 2.8 diesel manual - insurance is £114.
It is cheaper to keep it, than buy something else.
We have now owned it for 23 years.
A nice dilemma to have.

What about trying to find a LHD car as the seat will be less used?
