Brighter bulbs for a 9000
« on: 13 December 2012, 12:22:48 PM »
The lights on my 9000 are really not good enough, so I was I was looking at these. Any advice or recommendations please:

Nightbreakers are really good, certainly worth getting, I used to run them in my 9000 and run them in my 9-5's. Of course if the reflectors are dulled then they won't be so much of an upgrade.

Just a point but I thought only the early 9000's (but my memory might be faulty or you may have an early 9000!) were H4 and that the later models are H1 bulbs so you probably want to check this before ordering any bulbs.

The main cause of the lights not being good enough will almost certainly be deteriorating reflectors. I had them refurbished on my last one and the difference was amazing. Not cheap, but it's the only really workable solution to significantly improve the performance IME

I've heard that Mark, who took on 9000parts has a stock of refurbished headlamps.  mark@9000parts.co.uk

Thanks for your replies fellas.

My 9000 is 1997, so H1's it is then.
Embarassing question time: Do I need one set for main beam and one for dipped? :-[
The reflectors were changed last year, though not a bright as Marks refurbished ones, they are still OK.

Compared to other maques the standard 9000 headlamp seems sadly lacking .

Yep, one H1 for each.

I find that my 9000 with Nightbreakers isn't far short of my 9-5 with HIDs.

I'd say that the performance increase when nightbreakers is best in dip, using them in main too might be frivolous against using a normal (but high quality) bulb.

My wife was complaining about the brightness of her 95 lights. I was sceptical about nightbreakers, but they were a revelation!

Well I've gone and bought four Nightbreaker H1s. Only £15 for four on Amazon - a great price!

I will try and post some before and after shots.
