9-5 Aero 2002 Brake light issues Fixed!!
« on: 04 August 2020, 10:49:45 AM »
Had the aero for ten years now!
Its has had a brake light fault on the SID for many years.
Did the usual, change brake lights in pairs and check the loom going into the boot area.
All seemed fine but just lived with it.
Recently the headlights would stay on with the switch left on and key removed.
Turns out there was some scoring on the contacts [and the plug connector] on the left hand side, replacing both with scrappy parts sorted it out.
Many thanks to Malcolm Miles in Leicester for figuring that one! :-)

That seems an unusual fault mode, well done for getting to the bottom of it.

Sometimes Saab electrics are just too clever for their own good
