Apc repair

Right. I've been offered a t5 apc by a guy on fleabag for a fiver posted.
The only problem is that he has said it could be faulty as when the car arrived to him (breaker)
It was disconnected. I don't think he's trying to con me so can they be tested before fitment or even repaired if shot.

The valve is not really designed to be repairable, but I've read a posting that detailed opening up the case and repairing the valve.

The guy used a saw to cut open the case, repaired the diaphragm and glued the thing back together successfully.

For the fiver, it'd probably be worth the try just to have one to dig into.  Worst case, it'd be a reasonably inexpensive learning opportunity.
