Saab 9000 (1984-1998) / Am I the last one still driving a 9000?
« on: 28 April 2015, 01:59:33 PM »
As it is nearly 10 months since the last post in this forum, I feel the I need to ask whether I am the only person still driving a 9000 on a regular basis?

I have only just learned, from reading another post, that our old chum BillJ is now running a parts business called Saabits.com.  I struck me that it might be useful to have a comprehensive list of parts sources for both new and second hand parts kept as a sticky.

So if a moderator could make this a sticky and if people could add to the list that would be very useful.

Thanks.

Saab 9000 (1984-1998) / Keeping it?
« on: 15 April 2013, 11:03:30 AM »
Chaps,

the time has come to make "the decision".  I am quite tempted to keep it, but that requires a number of repairs to happen.  In particular the heater matrix needs to be replaced and the dashboard lights also require attention.  These topics have been discussed at length on this or the previous forum.

Can someone please point me in the direction of the instructions for doing these?  Also, what's the best source for a heater matrix?

Thanks, as always.

Saab 9000 (1984-1998) / Insurance again
« on: 27 November 2012, 11:47:32 AM »
My insurer has sold their business and the new outfit claim to knowing nothing about the car being modified and so are being a bit difficult to say the least.

Can anyone suggest a good insurer for a lightly modified 9000?

Thanks.

Saab 9000 (1984-1998) / Exhausting question.
« on: 10 October 2012, 03:10:26 PM »
The rear box on my FPT needs to be replaced for only the second time in over 200,000 miles.  The part is no longer available from Saab, although the box for an Aero is, although for £180.  So will the Aero box fit my FPT mid section, or should I go the after market for £80?

Thanks as always.

Classic Saab 9-5 (MY 1998-2010) / Koni FSD dampers
« on: 12 December 2011, 11:35:18 AM »
Has anyone tried Koni FSDs?  I would be grateful for opinions as to whether they do provide comfort over potholes and speed bumps as well as good high speed control.

Thanks.

Saab 9000 (1984-1998) / Central locking failure.
« on: 29 August 2011, 03:42:58 PM »
The central locking has failed on the passenger's door.  If I lock/unlock with the key in the passenger's door, everything works OK, so I'm guessing that the actuator in the passenger door has failed.  So the obvious questions:-

1.  Is it expensive?
2.  Is it difficult to replace?
3.  Is these anything else it might be?

Thanks.
