Central locking failure.
« on: 29 August 2011, 03:42:58 PM »
The central locking has failed on the passenger's door.  If I lock/unlock with the key in the passenger's door, everything works OK, so I'm guessing that the actuator in the passenger door has failed.  So the obvious questions:-

1.  Is it expensive?
2.  Is it difficult to replace?
3.  Is these anything else it might be?

Thanks.

Sounds like you've got the right diagnosis. The actuators dry out over time and become increasingly difficult to move.

It's not at all difficult, no. Just pop the door car off and release the screws fixing the actuator. There are normally plenty of s/h ones on eBay for a tenner or less. They're also listed as central locking solenoids.
