When your Saab specialist has no Saabs to give you as a courtesy car whilst your Aero is in for service........ :o

This is the second 1 Series I've had from them (WMSS). I think first was a petrol auto. This one is a diesel 6 speed manual. I don't find the seats very comfortable, and the infotainment thing is a right pain. But I have to say the steering and handling are much tighter than my Aero of similar age and mileage.

Steve, you missed cramped in the back too.  Those early 1 Series left an awful lot to be desired, just the people who actually did desire them only really wanted the badge, by and large.
They improved a lot over the years with the facelifts and updates etc. but consistently good engines.

It's surprising how many long-term BMW owners still think the badge numbers relate to engine size (same goes for Mercedes).

(I've a neighbour who's had versions of them all, through to the latest FWD models.)

We got one on hire in Germany when I went on holiday with my wife and younger son.  I had to do all the driving because there wasn't enough room in the back for anyone apart for my wife.  So if she drove, one of the others had to stay behind.

Ian Allan Motors gave me a 59 reg 9-3 1.9TiD Turbo Edition, the 120PS variant.

Better than a new Ssangyong.  Very agricultural engine, cramped compared to my NG but lots on fun on the road.  Really is a comfy car, if you can get over the diesel rattle.
