Best OBD2 scanner app?
« on: 31 December 2022, 02:49:10 PM »
I've just bought a bluetooth OBD2 diagnostic scanner, and just wondered which is the best app to use with it to identify those GM/Saab codes that my old code reader can never seem to find?

Any recommendations?

I've been using an app called "Car Scanner" on my iphone.  I used it to look at a fuel pressure graph on the 9-3 Carlsson.

The are several out there.  "Dash Command" for the iphone and "Torque" for Android seem popular.

Are these free ones? I have tried a couple and what you can do with them seems incredibly limited unless you buy the full version, and one I tried had very annoying pop up ads in it.

I don't mind paying for a good app if it will give me good info.

Car Scanner is free, but has some limitationa and adverts.

But...

£3.50 for a 6 month licence.
£5 for a year.
£6 forever.
Car Scanner ELM OBD2.

I think this is only on the iPhone, not sure.  Try the free version then buy the ad free bit if it works.

If you have an Android phone, then I can't advise...

Various people on one of the Facebook groups recommended an app called Torque which is free, but the pro version did not cost much, so I have paid for it, and will try it out tomorrow and report back. My phone is Android.

I bought torque back in 2011, cost me £2.95, money very well spent.
