Spray paint advice
« on: 03 January 2023, 12:42:44 PM »
I wanted to do a bit of touching up some dull areas on my front bumper, and have a go at sprucing up the bonnet slam panel which I cleaned some of the rust spots off a few months back (and sealed with Hydrate 80).

The car is 170 solid black, and the local Paintstore outlet has told me I can either get a solid black base coat and a separate lacquer, or they can do a ready mixed single coating paint. Does anyone know if there is any benefit to using the single coating paint (other than less work)? Do they both ultimately give you the same good finish/sheen?

I used a basecoat plus lacquer.  That's the original spec.  I got a kit from www.paints4u.com

It might be difficult toi het a good finish at this time of year. I found that the best bit of spraying I have done was when everything was very hot.

I've used https://www.carpaintrepair.co.uk/ with good results for some years.
