It's getting hot in here... Saab 9-5 M00 aircon issue?
« on: 01 July 2011, 03:14:57 PM »
Model year 2000 Aero auto developed a problem yesterday on a long journey.  Fans started working overtime with no noticeable effect on cooling the cabin environment.  Also, centre air vents for rear passengers were pumping out hot air.

Would welcome some thoughts / advice on this one.

First of, try holding Auto + Off on ACC panel, let system run a self test, hopefully it will display 0 on the left hand side.
If no codes, then I have to guess you may be low on AC gas, can you tell if pump is cutting in or not?

Are all the front vents open? In particular the passenger vents. There is a recognised problem if these vents are closed causing an imbalance in the system. A classic symptom is warm air coming out from the rear vents.

Thanks, JB, Yes - all of the front vents are in the open position. I always have the vents open and just redirect the air as required.
