GM900 TCS
« on: 13 May 2015, 08:23:20 PM »
The old banger has suddenly started showing "TCS Off" and it won't switch on again. Now what is likely to cause that one? Any ideas?

Faulty ABS sensor or a faulty ABS module would be my guess.

This morning it was back to normal. Most odd, but strangely gratifying. That could have been terminal. :D

If it's only happening sometimes then I'd suggest a broken/damaged ABS ring on the hub as the most likely cause. I thought you meant it was happening all the time!

It was a one-off yesterday. I shall keep my eye on and see if it comes back. I would have thought that if was ABS ring or sensor it would fault on ABS as well as TCS, but such things are a mystery. I come from an era when one mended cars with a big hammer and a mole wrench and didn't need a PhD in electronic engineering.  8)

*shrug* I'm self taught and find the modern stuff way easier to the older stuff. I always found that with older cars people just guessed until they ran out of new parts to throw at it!

Dang, it's passed it's MOT again with only a new CV boot and a couple of bulbs needed. This thing cost me £695 four years ago ... is it immortal?
