There's a good reason I tell people to ditch them! I need to drop by the dealers at some point and get a set of 4 nuts to replace the lockers.

Ssssh, I was tired! Anyway, technically they are screws as as bolts use a nut as a fastener.  ;)

Like a coach bolt :)

I was thinking of doing the same although mine don't actually look to bad - famous last words and all that.

It's quite interesting you don't here about wheels being half inched these days - wonder why unless it's because cars have more sensitive alarms now. Speaking of which there appears to be two alarms on my car???????? The horn goes off as one and there's also a siren.

The other day just the horn started hooting on it's own - sorted that one as door window was slightly open but on Saturday both went off and I found a huge bumblebee bouncing around the windscreen!!!!! Anyone else had that?? This is the only time I've heard either since getting the car early December.

Lots of bumblebees in my garden over the past week. None in the car though.

The trouble is that it's not the bolts that fail, it's the key part. If someone over tightens the wheel screws (and to be honest, it can happen when they've just been done properly) the key can break when you're trying to remove the screw. Of course this will usually be at the point you need to change a tyre, if it happens at the side of the motorway at 3am when it's raining and cold it's a total disaster and you end up needing to call recovery.

It's quite interesting you don't here about wheels being half inched these days - wonder why unless it's because cars have more sensitive alarms now.

I suspect that's because a set of Alloy wheels can be had for £500 new and a couple of hundred quid second hand. Similar prices to the 80's but what used to be more than a months wages for many people is now less than a weeks wages for most and it's lots of hassle to steal some wheels that people just don't bother as it's not worth the trouble.

Alloys used to be rare and expensive, now it's steel wheels that are rare.
Nobody likes a smartarse - until they need one.
