What do you use?
« on: 29 June 2011, 10:44:18 PM »
I like my car clean and wash it at least once a week, as for polish/wax I use Autosmart products that I think work well. So what do you use any why?
I'm after tips/tricks, You know like using furniture polish for a quick shine  :D

I use the Lithuanians in the hand wash at the end of the road!! :)

AutoGlym Fast Glass on the side windows and I tried the Gtechniq G1 stuff on my windscreen, but I thought that RainX was better.

I've heard of Aquapel.  it's supposed to be similar to Ombrello isn't it?  I was happy with Ombrello but I can't find it now.

Ombrello is still on ebay quite often I paid about £8 for one a while ago, but yes Aquapel is the same or very similar and I paid about £15 delivered for four  :)

I used Collinite marque d,elegance for the main wax and found it very good.
But another good product for a quick shine when required is the Autoglym Aqua Wax.
Its very quick to do and works well.

Parked under a tree last night. Birds living in that tree have serious dietary problems, most of which ended up on the bonnet and headlamp.

Resorted to an entrepreneurial chap on a former petrol station forecourt.  ...and he dud an excellent job of cleaning the car.

£2.00

Bargain.

But it does mean two cleans within a 12 month period.

If your after something for looking after the rubber trim, try using Renapur

Bikers will know what I mean, not cheap but lasts AGES and smells gorgeous too, plus as it real use is a leather care product it's ideal inside the car aswell

I've used renapur for years on shoes, but not on trim!  Do you use it on say bumper trim, or don you mean door seals type of blacks?

Thanks

Malcolm

Peanut butter - smooth - on black trim.
BluTak and WhiteTak on body work - IMHO, it's claybar without the marketing.

Phil after washing the car do not dry it. Get an old spray bottle of tap water and spray the panel/window etc with a fine mist then rub the Blutak over the panel, keeping the surface wet. It will lift off road grime and contaminates leaving a very smooth surface ready for polish and wax.

Easy test is lightly rub your fingers over a panel before using blutak and you may feel a slightly coarse 'sandy' finish, then do it again afterwards and it should feel like smooth glass.
