Hi all, it's 2yrs in total since i embarked on this journey of upgrading my stereo system, it's been challenging but with help from you guys it's been better. I have now completed the installation to where i want to be with the stereo, icm3 sat nav position equipment,  dvd player, amp2, amp 1 ehu and front cd changer. All power and fibre optic cables have been laid, tested power, all equipment receiving power, the problem is the fibre optic light, there's a break between EHU and ICM 3, mine has a cd changer in between, but for the life of me i don't understand why the EHU will not pass light to the cd changer to ICM 3 to complete the loop.

Please if anyone has or know someone who has experienced this problem, help!!!! ยก

Regards
Reginald

Hi Sgould, i beg to differ on that, there's a function in the icm3 that tells the dvd what to display, such as guidance routes and directions between two points. In my opinion the icm3 should be able to display maps and guide without the GPS, because the maps are already loaded in the dvd disc, so the GPS with respect to sat nav is just for updates or getting information about new routes that wasn't installed in the dvd player at the time of manufacture.

You're wrong the system isn't that advanced, there are no updates to the system via gps,and it needs the gps signal to tell the system where you are so it can display the correct map location on the screen..

I don't understand how saab got this wrong, the position of fiber optic 1&2 is different on the Sat nav position equipment compared to amp1 and amp2. This has made my upgrade very difficult and time consuming. I now have to change every fibre optic at the boot end and double check the plugs going into the socket of each equipment.

Scanned my 93 SS over the weekend and tech 2 shows 2vin numbers to choose from, its never happened before and i haven't used my tech 2 on any saab apart from mine and this is not the first time I have scanned it, any clues as to what is going on here?

Much appreciated.

Hi, i have a manual 6 speed 1.9 tid with a idle meter that works intermittently other times its hovers around 4-6k rpm.
My guess tells me the EGR is guncked or crankcase ventilation pipe is damaged.

At the moment i'm ruling out electrical fault with the meter itself, cos when it works all is fine, but when it doesn't, engine seems to be vibrating more than normal.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Hi, I never did the swap in the end. Got the bodywork sorted out instead :D

Fair enough, do you know anyone that has done the Amp2 or full Sat nav install? i have got all my wiring and connectors, but Tech 2 says there's a break btw EHU and ICM.

Just wondering if I ask him for the tweeters too and pay the extra?

Hi Steve, how did it go with your amp2 install?

ICM3 is just the display screen and control panel. There is no satnav function or satnav electronics in the ICM3, so no point in having a GPS aerial connection. The map DVD and the rest of the important stuff is in the boot.  The GPS aerial on the roof connects to those.  That's what it needs to feed.

All connectors for DVD sat nav have arrived, tested power working Ok from REC, DVD receives and ejects perfectly, just waiting on latest dvd disc to arrive and probably buy a tech 2 and then the adding game begins.

Just looking at the fibre optic electrical diagram,  whats the reason for having two positions for optic connector (H2-10). I want to be sure i get the order correct. I have all equipments to upgrade to sat nav and 13 speaker set up. I  don't have a rear cd changer, I'll move the equipment and connection of sat nav position equipment to where the rear cd changer sits in the cradle.
Any advice will be appreciated as this is the final step to the sound system upgrade and then i can document all.

Hi, does anyone know the process of replacing the fuel filter on a 1.9tid? Mine is located in the engine bay.

Much appreciated.

10
Thanks Audax, and these would be direct replacements, plug and play, with no wiring mods?

Hi Steve, how did you get on with your amp2 upgrade? any problems along the way or was it straight forward?

Bloody hell, can't believe how fast my 93ss is, programmed the tyres to read what i have on, from 195 default on tech2 to 215 which is what the car is on since i bought it, feels like 170bph. Better fuel economy since i changed cam belt and thermostat. I can give an Audi A8 a run for theirs, Boom!!! the flying 93ss.

Unfortunately Dave, being out of Warranty is the worst place to be, I have a 2005 93 TID with the original belt that lasted 109k miles, just had it changed with the kit from Neo Bros.
It might be cheaper for you to get a secondhand engine than to rebuild this, again from my research the newer models from 2007 upwards have a lesser build quality than the earlier models because Saab was trying to save itself from going burst courtesy GM ownership/parts etc.

Good luck.

Is it genuine? I heard that there were some fake Tech II's lurking in eBay

But just as in the Middle East - you can buy genuine fake watches - so you may have a genuine fake  ;D

Hi all, please does anyone know the proper procedure to install TIS2000 on an XP OS system? I have a Tech 2 with Bosch software, a separate Saab TIS2000 cd and a dongle, for a week now i have been trying to get security access and it wont let me have it, in the process of trying to get it i erased my V.148 from the Tech2 in error, i know i can get back from the cd, but need some guidance on installing the TIS2000, cos sometimes it says i dont have a licence to operate TIS, other times it doesn't say that. Also the dongle doesn't do anything when i plug it in and the readme file is crap, it doesn't say how to install the TIS2000 to get security access.

Any help will be appreciated.

I'll keep an eye on it all week to see how it behaves.

it should be at 9 steady, shouldn't drop..the coolant temp is used by the ecu to adjust the amount of fuel, cooler engine=more fuel used..

Hi Aerojon, got my thermostat replaced last weekend along with the timing belt and water pump, car smoother to drive but the fan still doesn't kick in, drove an hour from work, got home opened the bonnet, fan is not turning, temperature gauge is steady at 9 o clock.

Could there be something wrong with the fuse? The fan only works when the ac is switched on.
