I was truly shocked Geoff but when you look at the 8% interest they add since account was closed it really does add up.

I thought it might simply be something for nothing but wow - the shock was big and I quickly cleared my current card balance (not much but worthwhile). My eldest is now a mortgage adviser at RBS and he had a bad time when in his late teens early 20's with bank loans, cards and the like. Life changed dramatically when he met his finacee at 27 years old and his lift turned a massive corner and he's now doing well. He's now doing the same with Allay checking Santander etc and so far it's looking quite a decent sum for him!!

I do know there is a website called I think Resolver that gives free advice for people to do claims themselves but you have to have time for that which I didn't - first time in my life something actually worked!! New all season tyres on the X Trail to start with!

I've just done it with a company called Allay and it was very simple. I simply didn't have the time or patients to do it myself - sorry Geoff

You start by ticking boxes of different name banks and card companies and provide them with all your past addresses and couple of other things and they get on with it.

Ok you pay 24% but I thought well that's small amount to pay if they find something so nothing to loose as also no win no fee. I ticked various boxes including banks I didn't use and started the claims end Nov. End Dec I had e-mails from them saying I did have PPI with not only Egg but Barclays and even an old Lloyds bank account to!!!

I only needed to provide a few more bits of information and got a nice letter from Lloyds saying they'd upheld my complaint and the claim amount would be forwarded to me within 28 days. I then had letter from Barclays saying the same except with a cheque attached.................

I had only expected to get back about £300 thinking 'well it's worth a try but not to expect much' and 24% seems a lot but I still get something I wouldn't if I hadn't tried................. I actually got back a total of nearly £10k after they'd had their 24% - I called them to make sure it wasn't a joke but no it was true.

Hmmm.. doesn't always set a precedent though and councils are now quick to point that out but those look terrible and in any case different design to your home anyway; you've got a hipped roof and not end on like those.

Have a chat with planner but as I said you've got a hard decision to decide where to site the first floor window! Your designer/technologist should sort some options for you like I would.

I had these issues last year with my 58 Aero TTiD. Some days it would say 5 deg when it was 25 deg and then the reverse. I managed to get lower grille off and found connections a little messy. Cleaned the sensor and clipped it back in - ok for a while then I noticed it hanging there one morning and no reading. A/c all over the place. Blowing hot air when mid 20's outside and not even cold when on low setting.

Ordered a new one online and made sure very carefully fitted and all was fine for 3 weeks then it went haywire again. I found there was a break in the wiring loom which I managed a temp repair and then sold the car. The parts guy I knew at main dealers said it would be a new loom (which also covered the foglights) but these were on back order with no idea of when one would be available. He suggested an auto electrician insert new section of wires across the front; cheaper and quicker than waiting.

If you did go up 2 storeys I think it might look a little odd with the small hipped section going back into the main roof but it is possible; planner may baulk a little at it and try to look at the effect it has on the streetscene. It might look like a little blip on the roof. You'll then have the quandary about location of the first floor window? Do you have it central or off-centre like the entrance frames?? Little things like this will bug you!!!

I don't think you'd really notice the minimal amount of light reduction into your living room to be honest as it won't be much more than the proposed porch roof causes to start with. It would only be during the darker months of the year when the sun is lower in the afternoons.

They will probably want to charge you for the advice as is the way of most local authorities..the County Councils as the Flood Risk authority charge £100 an hour for advice as does the Environment Agency.

It may be worth having a look at the Planning Portal website to see if that can offer any help. Where I live the local authority don't enforce any minor planning breaches as they can't afford to...the country is gradually slipping into anarchy!

Blimey.
When we extended our house (by 77 sq metres) I found the local authority, Cheshire West & Chester to give it the full title, or CWAC as it's almost universally known, very helpful and no money changed hands until formal submission of plans. But that was eight years ago.

Cheshire East are a total PITA especially around Stockport and Wilmslow! Had one application left 7.5 weeks before they did anything and then wanted to refuse; I created merry hell about the delay and had a sharp e-mail exchange with Head of Planning who agree it hadn't been fully assessed and we got permission.

yes - in my professional capacity you will require a new Planning Permission. Anything larger than a small single storey porch on the front of any dwelling will require a Householder Planning Application. Permitted Dev will only allow a small porch.

Are you under South Norfolk there Andrew? If so they are pretty good at chatting through things and will soon say if they find it acceptable and would give approval.

In any case the magic height is 4m but this cannot be attached to any post 1948 extension on houses that are more than 4m high. Eaves max 3m within 7m of boundary.

Quite a few people have fallen foul on PD trying to build extensions just under 4m high but not realising they have attached to a previous extension which is taller even if the taller section followed round a corner. It is a battle I constantly have all round the country for the company I work for. All I do each day is gain Planning Approval on our projects - Best so far was Permitted Developement on a house in Kettlewell in York Dales Conservation Area. Planners said needed permission but I found otherwise and obtained Certificate of Lawfull Development confirming PD.

stupidly he hadn't sent off log book change of owner

Did the rules change at some point? It's the seller's responsibility to send the change of ownership part of the V5 now.

Long time ago now but wasn't called V5 then but log book. I seem to remember buyer often sent it off normally after new owner signed it.

Yeh very sad but car was a real handful if you didn't know how to deal with it. I cannot remember exactly which engine it was but it started as 1275 and I think was a long stroke which is why bored to 1360 was ok and would rev round to 9k. It had a specially worked head with high lift racing cam and manifold with 2.5 inch exhaust. 2 twin choke Weber which could be single or pull vacuum pipe (the old heater control wire) and bring in second carb. Jack knight racing crash gearbox with a racing clutch and more dials then a jet airliner. Discs all round and twin tanks. flame orange, cobra super slot wheels, 2 cibi spotlights (needed for fast nighttime driving), webesto roof and wood and pickett interior. Previous owner had spent thousands on it and I paid a lot for it with dad's help. I had an old chap in my village who used to work in the cooper works and he used to service it ever 3k and kept it on top form. It was fast, very very fast and superb to drive once you knew how to drive it!!!! Corbuea racing seats with harness held you in place.

It would do a ton but only once as scary as hell it was mainly though a 'hit in the back' machine and I reckon would still give some modern supercars a run for money to 60; remember the first time you got the kick in the back from you tuned Saab? Double that excitement and that's what I had for 3 years. Arm and leg to run but I was young then.

My 1968 mini cooper 1275 didn't lol!!!!!!

Does it still exist though or was it turned into baked bean tins many years ago? When you look at how many computers the majority of cars have on the road you can see why I like the new stuff :)

Sadly no it doesn't but through no fault of it's own apart from it's power - I sold it to an airman off Lakenheath base when I moved away from home to work in London (late 70's). I had told him never to accelerate into a corner but only when exiting, or car would take over - unfortunately 3 months later he ignored this and planted it at very high speed into a massive oak tree on a corner - sadly he died instantly but stupidly he hadn't sent off log book change of owner so my mother had police call on her to check for my ID. Thanksfully she could tell them everything - tragic accident.

My 1968 mini cooper 1275 didn't lol!!!!!!

That went like brown stuff off a shovel but could only manage 24mpg when it did which is why it had to have twin tanks! Mind you it was bored out to 1360 with twin, twin choke webbers operated by a vacuum pump!

Looks like they don't collect/deliver cars and also not in my area in Norfolk

28
Funnily enough I had completely forgotten about this post back in 2012 and bizarrely I used the same company (after Googling collection services) just before Christmas to fetch my X Trail which they brought on a trailer some 196 miles and did it for £178!

No one else then came close and the service was second to none. I was given a two hour window each end for collection and delivery. The business you show didn't come up in my searches.

I deal with PD all the while and people have to be careful about these double depths as the work has to be completed by end May 2019 to go from 4m to 8m. It's going to catch a lot of folk out!

I did manage though in Kensington to get a 4m x 4m x 2.5m high pergola at bottom of garden under PD for customer. It would not have gained Planning amazingly if PD rights had been removed.

If anyone interested here's the guide.
