Coolant temperature sensor replacement procedure
« on: 20 September 2013, 02:09:52 PM »
2001 9-5 2.3t estate - does anyone have the walkthrough for this, please, before I do something unforeseen?
I have done this on 9000's, and assume that it will be roughly the same,

Thanks

Very easy job, quite simply you unscrew the old one and disconnect, screw in new one and connect it up, you'll lose a dribble of coolant but so little you can top up with water.

So long as you don't muck it up. It isn't all that easy to get to the bolts and get some swing out of them. It looks easy enough to get to but things are in the way, as usual. Be patient. Losing coolant isn't such an issue, but you may lose more than you think. So top up with a concentrate of the right color. Or your glycol percentages will be too low. Make sure you check the coolant reservoir level a week later. Also put the heater on full for a while to get the air bubble out of the system.
It is not a hard job, sure, but it can lead to other complications down the track if you get it wrong.
