A year or two ago I was going to get some "clear tint" in all the windows, except the windscreen.  The intention was to increase security.  I fell ill and never did it.

Has anyone done anything like this?  Is the visibility still clear, or is it a bit "wrinkly"?

Changed my mind and decided to get the windows tinted. Think I'm pleased with the look and rear vision doesn't seem too impaired - especially if I switch off my overactive auto dimming rear mirror....

That doesn't look too bad to my eye, I think it contrasts well with the silver.

The thing I'm most pleased with is the way it accentuates the wraparound rear windows

That's what I do like about having tinted windows it but also the same thing that always makes me think of an Astra van. :-\ (sorry!) Shame there's no legal way of doing the front that maintains safety.

However, seeing it from the "grumpy old g1t" viewpoint, the recent outbreak of tints and SUVs/Crossovers have undermined the usefulness of the mandatory high-level brake-light. If you are behind a car with heavy rear-screen tints, or any 4x4 or lookey-likey, it's no different to travelling behind a bus. Safety advantage gone, drop back and increase length of traffic queue.

And at two-lane junctions on to main roads where you are turning left and the motor next to you is turning right or going across, it is becoming increasingly common to have to wait until the other car, of type described above, has departed (and hope the next bugger in the queue doesn't have a van or creep forward too far) to get a safe view of the traffic.  The departure junction from our office is like this, and I find myself on occasions waiting a couple of minutes to get out, during which time no traffic has come along my side, but the other s0d has blocked my view...

Interestingly no problem for my car as brake light not on the window! Might be different for retrofit and standard tints as the retrofit film probably not put over the light?

That said the guy who did the work has two sets of clients - dealers doing dealer fit tinting on new cars and reasonably sensible people like me , or mental people. He has a display van with hideous vinyl wrap and what seem to be blacked out head and tail lights! He himself says its hideous!

My point about the high level brake light is that the light from the car in front of you is now less visible to the bloke behind you.
