is remote roof closure possible?
« on: 29 April 2015, 01:31:09 PM »
Ok so as the title states. Is it possible with either the tech2 or a module wired in somewhere. I'm sure i could get an auto electrician to do it but would rather tech 2. Thanx.

It should be possible because I saw one at the Yorkshire show some years ago that did it. It was on a dealer stand ( Robert Bowett ?? ).
Salesman said you couldn't buy one like that as it was only done to demonstrate the roof.

I don't believe it's possible to just set this simply with Tech-II, but there is an engineering menu in Tech-II which needs a special access code from Saab to get into it, it might have been set via that.

Mine does it. Open and closes. From the keyfob. A brilliant thing, when it works properly...

I thought you just had a 9-3 saloon not a 9-3 convertible? However if you do have a vert there is the other possibility that it isn't allowed to do remote roof close on UK market cars given yours is an Australian model?

Australian?

Yes, this site being on the Internet attracts people who are not only from the UK like nine-fiver... Some things are quite different on Saab models sold in different countries, especially around programming of control modules.

Yes, but my reply was to nine-fiver and it even quoted him to make it clear, I believe he's in Australia.

Don't worry, just trying to clarify if this is something that does work in other countries for you!

What i don't get is my mate had the astra that had it around the same year. They even made a point that you could comfort close on the adverts.

I've just read a large part of the Saab service manual and it says that comfort open/close is not available in US/Canada but it is available elsewhere. Anyway, it says that comfort open is available for the soft-top but it doesn't say that comfort close is available for the soft-top, so all I can assume is that it was never a customer option.

Its just so annoying when it should just work. You'd have more chance taking fingers off going down not up.
