Ok so trading in wife's '54 plate for this......      http://www.arnoldclark.com/used-cars/saab/9-3/2.0t-vector-2dr-auto/2006-(06)/ref/arnfg-u-7647/

This has spent most of its life in Aberdeen & Kirkcaldy area, anybody here know any more about it?

Now it's almost identical to wife's,  hers is a 1.8t with 96k miles so this is just a little bit younger but with a lot less miles and as she does about 6k a year it should last a while longer..... hopefully until 2019 then we can afford a V6 :-)

Anyway this one has a parrot bluetooth kit in it, not sure exactly which one but looks similar to the 3100 model. So question is how do I find out how to work it so that I don't have to faff about too much when we collect it.

Badge on this says 2.0T when the vin says it should be a 2.0t ??? Not bothered about which it actually is cause don't speed but wondering how I can confirm one way or another?

In the boot is a black flexible cover, according to the part number it's this......     http://www.partsforsaabs.com/product_info.php?cPath=29_133&products_id=967
has any body used this before and is it any good or just a gimmick

It also comes with a wind deflector so I'll be selling one soon if anyone's interested!

How easy is it to change the shark fin on the boot lid, car doesn't have satnav or a phone so a dummy one will do just to tidy it up, the 8 is missing from the 1.8t on the boot so where's the best place to get these from, haven't been able to find the correct shape/size of 8 in auto shops.

The wind deflecter for the convertibles... Are they worth it? And can a 2002 one be made to fit a 2004 car because i could get an old one very cheap instead of £200+

One of the fan control buttons is very worn, the picture on it has been worn off and its worn through the black to show a big splodge of white now.... what's the best way to restore it?

Thanks again in advance

Stephen

Hi there, currently have a 9-5 estate so not new to saab or this forum (9-5 section though) but wife has just bought a 54 plate convertible (1.8t petrol auto) and I (she?) wants reversing sensors fitted.  Was looking at buying a set of the web as these are less than £30 instead of the inflated prices of genuine parts.  Now the bumper has the black plastic strip across the middle of it where you would expect the factory fitted sensors to be so can i simply drill into this, is there room to get to the rear of this strip from underneath or from the boot, has anybody already done this (couldn't see any posts?) & do you have any recommendations on which kit to buy and doing the job.... thanks in advance for your help.

Stephen.

Classic Saab 9-5 (MY 1998-2010) / N/S/F window not working
« on: 07 May 2012, 10:38:00 PM »
My front passenger window isn't working... I checked the fuse and that's ok (plus the rear works and its the same fuse!) so before i start checking switches and pulling the door panel off is there anything particular I should be looking for... ie is this a known fault or am I on a mystery hunt?
Its a 2002 estate

Classic Saab 9-5 (MY 1998-2010) / towing with an auto
« on: 13 February 2012, 09:47:15 AM »
I tow a caravan and on another forum (about caravans not cars/saabs) someone suggested they always tow in 4th gear not "D" as it keeps the engine closer to it's max torque figure and so not only improves its performance but also its mpg.

Now where in the rev range is my engine performing at its peak and does anyone know if this is correct or an urban myth.

Fortunately my caravan was in for a service and I'm due to go collect it and bring it home tomorrow (Tuesday 14th) so I am going to test it over the 30 mile journey. I know what my normal mpg is so will be interesting to see if any different.

I'm sceptical it will be better but worth a small experiment to check, any thoughts on this.

 2002 2.3t auto (5 speed box) estate......

Classic Saab 9-5 (MY 1998-2010) / suspension bushes
« on: 07 November 2011, 01:27:03 PM »
Front subframe bushes and rear suspension bushes have been reported to me as being worn and needing replaced soon..... getting too old to tackle it myself these days so what should I expect to pay a saab indie dealer to do the work..   will be going to see the garage at the end of this week but would like a rough idea of what to expect...

Thanks
