Aero back box
« on: 12 May 2014, 10:16:03 PM »
What is the difference between pre 2003 and post 2004 Aero back box?

I know the part number is different but are they actually different? Will a pre 2003 box fit a post 2004 model.

Thanks

Steve

I believe from what I've read that the tailpipe exits the box at a different angle on the 2004MY onwards, and that they are definitely not interchangeable.

No problem. The earlier ones seem to be much easier to find, I have been looking myself as mine is a 2004MY and the back box is looking really ratty! Some suppliers give the same part number all the way through, so be very wary when buying.

Yes now you have said the difference is obvious. The earlier one has a wiggle in the tail pipe but the later one is almost straight.

I had thought about getting one of these but if the tailpipe is going to be a problem I wonder how this would fit?

That photo looks suspiciously like this one:

http://www.maptunparts.com/exhaust-systems/maptun-cat-back/3963/maptun-cat-back-twinpipe-9-5-i-2006-2010-aero-2004-2010.html

which is genuine Maptun - and cheaper! The caption "Beispielfoto" on your link means "sample photo" and therefore you cannot assume it's exactly what you'll get. I would be very wary of Ebay merchants who rip off photos from reputable companies.

Or there is this single pipe Maptun version, which I was considering:

I enquired about postage from Sweden to Austria and was quoted around 450SEK, which is about £40-50.

The twin pipe exhaust might look something like this....
