Always a euphoric moment. Congrats. Mine (2004) is due next month.

As Will says, pump them up to the max and they should be fine; and you say, rolling the wheels even a few inches and changing the contact patch will help. If you're really worried then of course you can always jack each corner up and rotate the wheel, and/or then lower it onto some foam matting.

Indeed, that is strong money.

I think they're vanishing everywhere really. Even in cities that I always thought very Saab - Bristol, Oxford - their presence is evaporating. Alas.

Excellent - been following this with interest (and hope).

Well, bit late but better than never.  Clean bill of health.  No advisories either - interesting considering Joe Pugh gave me a long list last year and I have done nothing to the car, including the exhaust, since..

Happy days. And yes, the MOT advisory hokey-cokey is always interesting. I've also had some items appear as advisories one year and then disappear the next without them being attended to, which does underline that tester discretion must be fairly wide.

Absolutely agreed. When faced with that annual quandary I always remember sgould's mantra: "the cheapest car is invariably the one you've got" ...

That is very good indeed. I know what you mean about the ambivalence, with a good small company like that, of being simultaneously relieved at the low cost and worrying that they aren't charging enough to stay in business.

Very glad that such a handsome car has gone to such a good home carrera. They are so rare in the wild that this is very cheering intel. Well done on the acquisition and keep the pics and writeup coming - very enjoyable.

Before you do anything funky have you tried having the fan on full blast for a few minutes? I've cured all manner of grating noises over the years that way ...

I have the rusty dog-leg issue on my 04 9-5. It got through the MOT last year (April) but Ian @ Saabtech warned that I would probably be looking at some attention to and welding of that and some 'scabs' underneath the car this year.

Thanks Audax. Hmmm ...

I'm planning to scope out Swedish Car Connection tomorrow morning (rather than just 'phoning). I assume that my car (see thread in Classic 9-5 re wet carpets) is going to need to stay at a dealer with the trim lifted in order to dry out, even if the cause is a quick fix.

Thanks Will. That throws up Swedish Car Connection in Cambridge who look pretty good. So that's very helpful, obliged.

Anyone have any experience of them? I've relocated to the area and although I like Ian @ Saabtech Welwyn to work on the car - he's done so for years - it would be good to know if I have local options. ISTR that they have a good reputation, well-known eBay site etc. Any recommendations re particular mechanics would be especially welcome.

As above really. I was going to post a query re recommendations for specialists in the east of England and couldn't see the obvious place to post. Most similar websites have a dedicated forum for such recommendations and I thought it might be a good idea, especially with Saab expertise getting rarer every year.
