Aaah, it wasn't immediately obvious to see where the picture was. To see the engine without having to click 20 times click the 9-5 one and click back once....

:For I am the Saab Geek:

Saab changed the badging for MY2011 cars...

The petrol options were 1.8t and 2.0T - although the 9-3 badge was where it was always the 1.8t had been replaced by Turbo4 lower on the bootlid - particularly on the non-Aero variants.  The diesels all became TTiD4 - same position.

When the Griffins came in early 2011 all the badging moved to lower on the lid. Aero moved to the left side.  The round Saab badge was removed at this time.

The lower power 2-litre was the 163PS unit, replacing the 1.8t, and the 2.0T gained the 220PS from the 9-5 Aero.  Actually I believe these should have been fitted 12-18 months sooner than actual.

There were 220PS 9-3s sold in the UK - I remember a Silver manual saloon for sale at Slater's Colwyn Bay.  More recently there was a Jet Black auto Aero at Bristol Street Motors.  Apparently BSM aren't in the habit of taking in Saabs, but they were overwhelmed with enquiries for the car....

Given that post GM liquidation attempt production levels at THN were much lower than planned and since over 80% of UK bound cars for the UK are disease cars badged Turbo 4 or TTiD4 are thin on the ground but there are some, the Turbo4s are just very rare.

Interestingly the turbo4 1.8t convertible autos are £290 road tax rather than the £490 from MY11 backwards. Emissions were lowered on the turbo4.

There was a red/parchment 2.o SE convertible with the 163 bhp engine and facelifted front/rear for sale at a VX dealer a month or so ago. Started off at 15k then went down to 12 and a bit...it sold at that price.

I know this is a late post but some extra knowledge on the turbo4 for others who might be seaching for info.

That's interesting! New 220bhp engine with 'old' front, 'old' dash. Maybe they stuck the newer engines in the pre final facelift leftover cars...or the final facelift only appiled to saloons and verts.

I think that the 9-3 X didn't get any makeover towards the end but I could be wrong about that.

Do we know the difference been the 1.8t Linear 150bhp and the revised 'SE' with 163bhp? Is it just an B207 ECU tweek?

Had you seen this fka

I have mate, its was on autotrader when I started the thread. I thought it was over priced then, no surprise it's still for sale. It's actually round the corner from my parents house, I did mean to go and have a look last time I was up there but ran out of time.

I still can't get over the price of this Carlsson, albeit a very very nice car..

Talking of facelifts, the seats in this 2010 Carlsson look remarkably like the seats the Griffin got. Where they part of a facelift or just an optional extra akin to the vented leather seats I've seen in some of the MY07/08 9-5 Ddnas I've been perusing recently?

The seats just look like the standard 9-3 sports seats to me?

Aren't the bolsters on the bottoms different, there's no join/patch where the two tone section would be?
Possibly look different as I've not seen them in single tone beige before?

The stitching/covers are different as they don't have the inserts but the parts catalogue only lists 2 different seat bases backs for sports and standard seats.
