Thanks for getting back so quick! I'm on a learning curve here.

As to the EVAP system that's on me. It wasn't boosting properly (IMO) and looking at it all the lines were tired / split etc so I went and got some new one way valves and silicone hose, also a new Boost pressure control valve - because while I was digging around I discovered that 20 year old plastic and hose doesn't stand up to well to my cack handed investigations! Argh! All I did was measure what was on there and replace it piece by piece ... taking one bit off then following it and replacing it. So it's entirely possible I did a 'stupid' or someone else had put it on wrong and I have just replicated their mistake. I know the previous owner was a doctor and it had a full history till I took custodianship of her but because of that had kinda believed / hoped that what was on there was right. The after market strut brace is a surprise and I'm interested in that!  But, now its knocked my confidence a bit with the T5 DIC as well and I found out it had the wrong plugs in ... though I've sorted that with NGK platinums as per spec.

I'm in Bushey, Hertfordshire.

Thanks alot for the advice and notes!

Hi - thanks. Ok I guess that would explain the occasional Crankshaft position warning. I'll go and get me a T7 cassette asap. On the breathing may I ask what was it that caught your eye? I have bigger / can do better pics if that helps.

I do love this car and want to do right by it and well, mid of get it back where it should be. So, all help is appreciated.

Thanks again.

Classic Saab 9-3 & GM900 (MY 1994-2002/03CV) / T5 Coil in T7 car

Hi,
HELLLP! I am relatively new so please excuse stupidity on my part! Now ... I have a 2001 9-3 Aero convertible. I am slowly going round and learning about it and doing bits. I believe I have a trionic 7 engine (oil cap on the LHS and MAF pic attached) BUT I believe it's got a T5 coil pack in it.

The question is this - is it safe to run the T5 dic on a T7 engine? I have seen various posts on tinterweb saying you can temporarily run a T7 on a T5 to get out of jail BUT my question is what can happen if its the reverse as I believe I have . TBH the car has run always fine as it is but I have had sporadic crankshaft position sensor warnings.

I've found a good used t7 pack from a 2005 9-5 Aero. Will this fit? Is changing it out the best / right thing to do?

Many thanks in advance for any help o' wise Sabb ones coz I'm panicking a bit that I might break my beloved Saab!
