Not that it will do much good but I think this is the A&P who made the stepper motors. https://www.anpcrebiz.com/ehome

Pulling fuse 4 sets it back to zero. Pretty much all the time but it is a bit of a faff pulling the fuse cover off then getting to the little fuse....is there a way I can install a cheap fused switch that I can mount somewhere inside the car rather than pulling off the fuse cover etc?

Links to online kits and what I would need greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

M

If the gauge resets after the power has been off and on, are you sure that it's the motor and not the control circuitry?

well, that is a good point.........

Thing is, all my assumptions are only based on what I have read on the www on what others have done with the same problem. I have yet to replace anything yet! It seems a straight swap to another /same, MIU, married to the car does the trick. In the UK about £40 can get you a MIU and then you have to marry to the carry......it's a bit more of an investment here......

TBH...I strangely quite like the quirkiness of it and if you reset the fuse 4 after you have driven, all is well. However, if you go for 5 or six drive cycles my needle is beyond vertical. Also, if you dare press the night panel this really messes things up and accelerates the process somewhat......so agree with you, it probably is more to do with the circuitry...but it seems most have solved it by replacing the MIU...I have yet to read of anyone who has solved it by replacing one stepper motor.....which is what I wanted to do.

I'll see how I get on....as I'm driving it much more now and really enjoying my new flying machine......

New MIU arrived.....different part number this time...went for the Bosch one 12802925 rather than the Daegu one 12763126. The glass was slightly cracked on the new one but was able to swap out with the current one...will be marrying with tech 2 in a couple of weeks and hope they can keep the mileage the same as my new one is alot less! check out the stepper motors!

Got it married this weekend......all works as it should! Some subtle differences, like when you open the door the mileage does not illuminate, only when you turn the key for my new one. Parking brake light is in the cluster with the fasten seatbelt light just above the turbo gauge as opposed to in the speedometer just to the right of the speedo needle. Managed to increase the mileage so it was similar to my old one...so that's all good then! Still got rear door lock malfunctions but other than that I'm good to go!

Cheers,

Been out and about several times today for son's taxi service and temperature needle and all other needles have behaved well.

Gave my Tech 2 man a pair of old OG Headlamps in liue of payment (he was only going to charge €20 anyway)......so a bonus. There is no  Saab garage/specialist anywhere remotely near me here...so I really need him more than he needs me. So thought I would butter him up...in case I needed him the next time. I was thinking of getting Tech 2 clone...but to claw the money back would mean that I would need to have alot of problems with my one Saab 9-3........never needed one for my old 9-5 over the last 8 years, have needed it twice for my new 9-3 n the last 8 months! Oh well....the joys!
